From some people at the mayors office there is something in the works for this area that is going to be pretty impressive. was specifically told Heartland of America Park.
so i would say there is some serious smoke around this.

Since we are on the rumor page, I feel obligated to throw this out there. Heard from a local developer and a Conagra employee that Conagra is looking into options of moving the global headquarters back to Omaha. Assuming they would be looking into their current location here and some additional office space in one of the rumored office towers in this redevelopment.
Would love to see if anyone else has heard anything around Conagra moving back because that would be.... ahhhmazing.

If they want to come back, by all means, but the city shouldn't offer any sort of help in doing so.

I completely concur. They lost any perks they should ever receive by walking out the door of Omaha. That entire campus was basically built by them and more or less abandoned. Even if they have 1000 ppl still in Omaha it's peanuts compared to what they had at one time.Louie wrote: Tue Mar 21, 2023 2:55 pm If they want to come back, by all means, but the city shouldn't offer any sort of help in doing so.
They up and left simply because of the new
As far as I'm concerned they should have to pay a tax on relocating back to Omaha if that ever happened. I'd say this whole topic is rumor/joke but April 1st is still over a week away. LOL

I’ve been thinking about this lately. I’ve wondered if they could ever be convinced to come back now with everything going on downtown. If so, I’ve wondered if they could buy the block the state building is on for a new high rise.

Yes, many CEO’s have that kind of power; and yes, some are that callous. I have a good friend who worked for a Fortune 500 company that moved its HQ across the country. He’s convinced it was motivated by a desire to move back to his hometown and aging parents. It upended the lives of hundreds of employees, many of whom had a hard time selling their homes in the middle of the last recession.djc311 wrote: Tue Mar 21, 2023 3:11 pmI completely concur. They up and left simply because of the newCEO that came onboard. What a joke. I can't imagine being that powerful at a company that you can relocate their headquarters. So whenever Tim Cook is out at Apple does the next person come in and shut down the spaceship because they want to be based in Phoenix? Give me a break.

I think they have 700 employees in Chicago, and 300-400 of those were added in the move. Sean Connolly is also still the CEO so I have a hard time imagining the motivation to move back.ita wrote: Tue Mar 21, 2023 4:34 pm Skip, another interesting rumor! Re: Conagra Campus Residential
Meanwhile, another downtown Detroit redevelopment/new construction project is moving forward.
The $1.5 Billion District Detroit project, near the Little Caesars Arena calls for 10 new and rehabilitated buildings for 1.2 million square feet of office space, 695 apartments, retail spaces and two new hotels: a 14-story, 290-room hotel adjacent to Little Caesars Arena and an adaptive reuse of the 10-story Fox Theatre office building, 2211 Woodward, as the 177-room Fox Hotel.
There are already other buildings in the area, and some pretty notable names are tenants, such as Google. Not a data center but media sales and tech support, among others.
Maybe something like that can happen at the Civic site or elsewhere downtown. Then again, maybe not

If you scroll down, there is a list of each of the addresses for renovated and new building sites. Looks like 6 new high rises, based on the renderings. Bob, does this project include a highway cap park? Anyway, interesting development, though $800 million in tax incentives seems like a crazy amount. Do you know what kind of incentives are being implemented here?
Unsurprisingly, it is in proximity of a streetcar station along Detroit's QLine.

Re: Conagra Campus Residential
Conagra currently has its cake and eats it too. Most employees are still in Omaha, earning lower wages than they would in Chicago, in very nice buildings that Conagra still controls under the original sweetheart deals. Some functions and teams are in Chicago and the senior execs who want to live there, can. They have a presence in downtown Chicago and have invested heavily there around sales, marketing, and research.
Barring a change in senior management I don't think Conagra would move its headquarters back here, unfortunately.

I have insider NPDodger knowledge with exclusive intel saying there will be a 242 story residential tower built on the old ConAgra campus - and they'll have an entire shopping mall inside the building 1/2 way up. This way the top 121 story residents can simply go down only half way to buy groceries and have their cat groomed.
It's all 100% legit

This development is still going to happen. The project is still evolving. One office tenant has pulled out, and two other office tenants will be taking their place, with additional office space required to meet their needs. An announcement probably won’t come until summer.
