I just flew in from Chicago and this was on the news as a top story:

The Daily Star Wrote the following

THERE was no way a Lady GaGa wedding was going to be a quiet, low-key affair.

The wacky singer is planning a mega bash and is giving her fans the chance to be there.

As well as an intimate ceremony when she ties the knot with Luc Carl, 30, later this year, she’s also decided to have a wedding in an arena so her all fans can see her say “I do”.

An insider in camp GaGa told us: “She loves her fans so much she’s determined to have them involved in her big day.

“She’s organising a lottery guest list so her ‘Little Monsters’ can see her on her special day. She’s promising it’s going to be a spectacular wedding to remember with more than a dozen bridesmaids, trapeze artists, fireworks and a light show. It will be typical GaGa.”

The bonkers hitmaker, 25, has been dating musician/barman Luc on and off since 2005.

After rekindling their romance earlier this month GaGa is convinced he’s definitely the one for her.

She’s now got her heart set on a wedding at the 18,000-capacity CenturyLink Center in Luc’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. Our source said: “The venue normally stages pop concerts, basketball and ice hockey games.

“GaGa played there on St Patrick’s Day this year and loved it so much she thinks it’s the perfect place for a massive wedding party.

“She loves her fans so much so she thinks getting married in such a big venue will be an ideal way to thank fans for their support by allowing thousands of them to be there on her big day.”

Right, we’re off to buy telephone-shaped hats and give ourselves nightmares thinking about what the wedding dress will look like.

As long as there is no meat involved, we reckon she’ll be onto a winner.

heck, thats what i dont get. People comment on the news sites, FB, Omaha.com and say who cares, or why have a freak show here. Do they not get the power Gaga has and the economic impact she can have on Omaha?

Back in 2000, we were in Copenhagen, when my wife ran into a woman from south America and one from New York. Predictably, the New Yorker was condescending. When the other woman heard she was from Nebraska, they had a long talk about Cather and then Warren Buffett. Amazing how far away people know so much about us.

Well this is kind of unfortunate, the #2 song in the nation "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People is being rumored to be about Robert Hawkins the Westroads shooter. All because of wikipedia it looks like and it's still on there. Here's the OWH article

Just watched a commercial promoting a new show on HDNet about a landlord in Omaha.

It is called "The Super" and features Dave Paladino from the Landmark Group, who apparently manages 1,700 units.

I don't believe I've ever heard the term "Super" used in Omaha for an apartment resident manager or superintendent!

No, my wife was so stunned by her first comment about how people like her, living in Nebraska wouldn't understand true wealth like a New Yorker would. As she told me the story, she was taken aback by the New Yorker and was about to leave, when the Brazilian woman entered the conversation with the Buffett reference.

Speaking of Buffett, I saw the movie "Too Big To Fail" about the Investment bank collapse. Buffett was portrayed in a Dairy Queen. But not even the one he goes to.

California members wear Husker gear to rep their street gang

A California cop has learned to tell the difference between a true Nebraska fan and a red-clad gang member.

And some Bay Area high schools have banned Big Red jerseys and related apparel.

The reason? The Norteños, a Mexican street gang in northern California, have taken a liking to Husker gear. It's red -- their color -- and it usually has a big "N" -- for Norteños, in their world.

Its not filmed at The Slowdown. If you stop the video at :12 you can see that the stage is straight across on the front, The Slowdown's is curved.

What I find odd (amusing?) about this is that the term "super" is seldom if ever heard in Omaha in this context.

I talked to him for about 5 min one night at M's Pub. He was really nice and really liked hanging out in the old market. Had great things to say about M's. Besides M's, I believe he also spent some time down at the Boiler room.

Bought this game the other day. Nebraska is featured less than I thought it would be. You do drive through the panhandle between Denver and the town of Rushville, NE, but that's the extent of it. The route then goes across South Dakota. Nebraska looks pretty good though. Their interpretation of Rushville is a lot more generous than it should be as it features a lively, restored downtown.

NPR did a recent story called "The Hipsterfication of America."

One person interviewed in the article made this comment, and I think it couldn't be more true:
"It sounds funny, but hipsters in Omaha may actually be cooler than hipsters in New York City — everyone knows about New York City."

And this is what I said to my friend in Maine who posted the link on my Facebook page:
"Exactly. People in NYC will never understand this. Personally, my definition of a hipster (and I cringe to use the term... in keeping with the article) does not involve blowing a lot of smoke up your own |expletive| because you live in the self-anointed greatest city in the world. NYC is the epitome of mainstream (along with LA): not a hipster value. As the article mentions, hipsterism has gone mainstream, creating a contradiction in terms. The funny things is that 'true hipsters' have already moved beyond the current idiom, choosing instead something more authentic, humble, and modest---not ostensible and conspicuous. Whatever term pop-culture bestows upon this group of people, the true [insert term]s are already beyond that, out in front of the curve."
