What a turnaround just within this season, if NU finishes 5-7 and goes to a bowl game, if there aren't enough 6-6 teams to fill bowl game slots.

Everything I have heads and read says that a 5-7 bowl bid is almost impossible this season. That does not discount the improvements that have been made.

Bowl game is out of the equation. Some 6-6 teams won't make it and our graduation numbers make it 0% possibility.

Yeah... Too bad they couldn't win one of the easier ones as I bet you there'd be so much more motivation to go 6-6 rather than 5-7. I'm not that confident to assume the next two should be wins. They'll be a good measuring stick. I think they will be really competitive games and if that turns out, that'll mean the Huskers are a top 25-ish caliber team to finish off the season.

MSU's offense is ranked worse than NU's defense. It's the moveable object vs the stoppable force.

Gonna be an uncomfortable day too, so I wouldn't be surprised if its even lower scoring... For the opposing team! I think the Huskers are still a write off for 28.

Tough weather year for the Huskers on top of everything else this year.

First game gets canceled with storm / lightning delays

Game against Ill last week is the coldest home game in 25 years.

Last home game this Sat may be right there with the same conditions as last Saturday with the possible addition of light snow.

My brother and I were in the South Stadium for the '93 Oklahoma game where the wind chill had to be close to -10.
Nobody stood up lest our collective body heat blew away.
Wasn't there but you are not the only one to say that was terrible. The other one that Was not at home but you hear about is the Big 12 Champ game at Arrowhead. I have had people tell me that that was worse than 93.
The first time Nebraska and Oklahoma met in the Championship game.

C’mon. At least give yourself a little wiggle room for a couple post game victory/reactionary posts, lol..

Actually, the more I think about it, you should hedge your bet for the NU vs Iowa game on Black Friday- and at least finish out the 2018 season  ...

Michigan State is a legit candidate to play in a New Years Day Bowl Game. Nebraska is a team that has only been able to beat 2 Big 10 bottom feeders and a team nobody has ever heard of. There is no good reason to believe that Nebraska is going to get its first win against a real team now. One thing I learned at the start of this season is that Scott Frost will not be able to fix what is wrong with this team until he can reload the rosters with his own recruits. I want Nebraska to win Saturday too but all the hoping and wishing and Scott Frost pixie dust in the world is not going to make it happen.

I see what you're saying... But I also was surprised how they played Ohio State. If they play that way against MSU, it'll be a breeze. I think something changed after the Wisconsin loss... Save just a couple mistakes and the Huskers are 5-0 since then... Think about that. Haven't been that close to good in a long while.

Though MSU might have the run defense, and the run is a big part of what Nebraska's offense has been, the super creative pass plays will help our boys get past this team. And MSU doesn't have half the offense of NU. So I like the match-up, and hope you'll stick around even if the Huskers do lose.

I question how “legit” Sparty actually is. I mean they’re not exactly setting the world on fire with their 6-4 record.. They are 3-1 on the road with a victory over Penn St in Happy Valley..But just got dominated at home last Saturday against an Ohio St team that NU played toe to toe with for 4 quarters. No “Frost Pixie Dust” was required for NU’s performance in that one.. I respect MSU. But they’re hardly a juggernaut..and they are offensively challenged..I fully believe NU will close their home schedule with a victory over Sparty.. That’s what most all of us here (save Martin :) )hope for anyway..

In the end, it’s close, but I’d say Iowa is probably just as good or better than Sparty...

Totally agree with you. Yeah, yeah, its kinda funny the fanbase of the 3-7 team thinks their team is stronger than the 6-4 team... But I do believe the upset alarm is sounding. Nebraska is trending up, while MSU is strong, but stagnant.

And I also think Iowa is better.

Thats the spirit :D

Watching Scott Frost run around for the past week saying over and over again "Were Dangerous" has made me cringe every time I heard. It reminds me of when you are sitting around the table with a bunch of people and the guy who has had 5 jobs in the past 10 years and is always broke starts boasting about how he is getting a huge raise or promotion and he is going to be killing it. You feel bad for that guy and you just want to whisper in their ear "Sheesh don't do this to yourself." Scott's comments running along the lines that its too bad the Seniors will not be around to see where this program is going are a little to rich as well considering the fact that Nebraska can not be good again until we get the Seniors out of here. These Seniors have been instrumental in getting Nebraska to the bottom of the league where we are now lets not forget. I know Scott Frost has to be a good sport and thank the Seniors for their time and effort but hes pouring it on a little thick. I'm betting Scott Frost will turn things around but its not going to be with these Seniors. This season can't end soon enough!

Great win for the Huskers today. I expected an NU win.. And even in the elements, the Huskers proved they were the better team today in the 4th quarter..

Well, that was a very compelling 9-6 game! Couldn't score until the fourth quarter with three unanswered field goals! This one felt like a big comeback :thumb: Also not anywhere near how I thought it would go and the weather played a huge role. Huge kick by Pickering in the swirling winds. I even said "There's no way".

Last time the Huskers played a game this low scoring was that 9-6 loss to A&M in 2010. We all remember that one.

Fun game!

In yesterday’s game if it wasn’t for some of the seniors on the defense, Nebraska wouldn’t have been in the game. Some of those seniors made the stops when they needed to be made.

These seniors finally got coaches who could teach them how and what it takes to win.

It definitely became a snow globe at the end. I think I saw something that this was the Husker win without a touchdown since Nov. 27, 1937.

So the 64k question is have they won on the road w/o a touchdown? I don't think so. 1981 they beat Mizzou in Columbia 6-0, TD and missed XP--with 23 sec left in the game (no OT back then).

Even with improved performance of late, in perfect football weather, I'd be predicting a 33-31 toss-up, leaning more toward Iowa. BUT, the weather looks like it'll be less than perfect with rain and 20+ mph gusts as of right now. That, I think, will affect the course of the game, and we could be looking at a lower scoring contest somewhat reminiscent of this past Saturday. That will temper the scoring to something like 24-21, tilting the favor more toward the Huskers. Either way, this should be a hard-fought game.
