Yeah I am pretty sure that is what it is for. Hopefully someone can grab a picture. I have a lot of family in town for my wedding this weekend and they all thought that was cool that they can change the lights that quickly.

They are run by a computer. I think any color is possible real easy.

If the city can't afford to maintain their pet projects, they might do themselves a favor by reconsidering their anti-casino stance (or is it state law?). My guess is that Council Bluffs would have had the lights replaced already.

I don't think so, I've been to a couple Native American casinos around Nebraska.

Might not be a bad idea. Maybe some slot machines - people love to gamble their money away, might as well use it on our struggling infrastructure!

No, it's state law. I'm not sure how Native Americans are allowed to have them, but I know they are not allowed anywhere else in the state.

IIRC, the last Native gaming (slot/VP) operation in Nebraska was shut down by court order a few years back.

According to Wikipedia, the federal government allows gaming on Indian Reservations as long as the state has some form of legalized gambling.

First national tower needs an adjustment. The lights start turning on, then take a several min break before the rest turn on. Not like they use to do..

In the past they have come on one after another, one about every second or two, but now there is a long pause in the middle...

Some of the lights on the small fountain were actually working this morning. There are 5 on each side and then several on the top.

South East side had 4 of the 5 working
North East Side had 1 of the 5 working
Could not see the west side from where I was
Two lights on the top were working.

Looks like they are making progress!

I wish they would fix the lights on the CenturyLink Center and the pedestrian bridge. On Monday we had both the CWS and the Bruno Mars concert and the neon lights around the Centurylink were on but on the southeast side facing 480 the light hasn't "wrapped" around all the way like it should for months. Also the pedestrian bridge only has some of the lights on the west pylon working. It would be amazing if they could keep those lights running consistently for longer than 2 months. At least the Woodmen's new lights seem to have been working well lately.

There was a tweet to the mayor TWO WEEKS AGO that said something like nice to see the Pedestrian Bridge Lights working in time for the cws, and the mayor replied something like Its too windy to go up there and fix them...

Typical Government Run BS... First national tower has been around for over a decade and I don't remember their lights not working... How long as the woodman been lit and their lights seem to be flawless... Granted some times these buildings don't turn on in time to keep photographer in me happy, but at least they still turn on any day.

When I drove through downtown this weekend, it did look like they fixed some of the light on the CLink. Looks much better than it did a week ago.

Sorry if this has been mentioned or has different thread but what about the lights on the drive from downtown to the airport? Didn't hail break those out a few years ago and they got replaced by Walter Scott or someone? They are all broken and out again. Like 90% of them. Am I remembering that correct?

I have been trying no to complain too much these days. I keep trying to look for the positive in everything. With so much social media these days, there is just way to many people complaining about everything, and I don't want to be that way. So the other night I slipped up and I start complaining about the lights downtown on my Brad Williams Photography Facebook Page in the comments on the photo posted below. I got the following message back from a Friend/Fellow Artists/Omaha Parks Employee. I know my complaints are on a "City Level" and not directed at individual park employees, but it did make me feel bad about what I say. Its good to hear they want to make the parks a better place.
The pedestrian bridge lights are frustrating. The lights on the wires and on top of the towers is a job that is bid out to contractors and costs money that isn't always there. There are only three electricians for the entire parks department. One has been working almost exclusively in the downtown parks (which is a tiny chunk of all the parks) for several months with great success. Unfortunately the amount of theft, vandalism, and littering that we deal with on a daily basis is crippling. I work in the downtown parks. It is a thankless job but i take pride in my work and try my best just make a difference everyday. Just yesterday I had 5 projects that I wanted to accomplish. Instead I spent most of my day pressure washing graffiti. Sorry, I just wanted you to know that there are those of us that do care and do try our best with the limited staff and resources we have.
I really wish people had more respect for other people's property...

One First National is lit up green atop again tonight.

I don't know what this is about but with Mutual rumored to eventually be lit blue upon completion maybe FNB goes year round with the green? I imagine they could do something else to embellish for the holiday season.

I thought that it appeared green all the way from 72nd and capehart rd. Then my daughter argued that it is that way all year and I had to remind her usually only for the Christmas season.

Perhaps the One First National lights are related to this quote from their FB page:
FNBO wrote:Something special is coming this Sunday! During the big game, keep an eye out for our new commercial airing in Omaha. They say, “home is where the heart is,” and for us, home is in all the incredible communities we serve. From familiar landmarks to friendly faces, we’re honored to capture and share footage of our customers and employees and we can't wait to share it with you."

or maybe they're rooting for The Eagles too!

A few days ago, while I was at the riverfront, everything was red themed; quite nice.
Bob Kerry bridge was in red, CHI Convention center red, Farnam pier was red and the skate ribbon was red. Talk about perfect light synchronicity!

As for FNBO, its been lit green since the holidays (winter), it seems that the white/yellow color is reserved for spring to fall.

Actually they changed FNBO to white around Jan 5th or so, it just recently (last wednesday or so turned back to green) And for a little history, there were a few years early on where it was red on top. I am assuming they decided against that being a financial company.

Does anyone know what the top of fnbo looks like, specifically the large vertical room on the top from which main lights come from. I've always wondered if it's a giant room with a ceiling several floors high, or a few seperate floors full of lights.

I've done the trek up the tower which takes you up to a pretty large conference room with high ceilings. The room didn't seem to take up the entirety of the space, but I think it's basically a few rooms like that.

The top several floors are all the mechanical equipment. There are photos of it somewhere online where its just steel and the the panels that light up are not on it.

Speaking of the FNBO lights, I think it's odd they apparently used the green to promote their Super Bowl commercial but remained dark for the holiday lighting ceremony. Maybe it has to due with most employees being off for the long Turkey day weekend...but you'd think they'd want to take advantage like with the side emblem projection during The CWS.

Couldn't find the exact photo I was looking for where its zoomed in on the top, but I did find a bunch of cool construction photos. https://www.historicomaha.com/fnb.htm

Yes, I have looked at those several times in the past. It is also nice b/c they have some of CHI (then Qwest Center) being built. All of this right before eomaha was formed.

Its apparent that the core of FNBO wider and more rectangular, than MoO square core.

Didn’t know where to put this, but what is going on with the Woodmen lights? Only about half of them are on and none of the lights at the top or on at all for the lettering. It’s been that way for at least a few days.

FNBO Tower has also been dark the past few days. Some nights it wasn’t lit up at all, other nights they turned off the lights before midnight.

While on the topic....it would be nice if the CHI Center could keep all their lights working for more than a month too. Every time I drive by, at least one section on the LED is out. Not to mention the lettering (I think right now it reads "O_aha")
