Re: Boys Town Campus
Was kinda hoping that any new building would have kept with the traditional design elements of the original buildings. Not that these were particularly historic medical office buildings. But i feel that the attempts at classicism lent an identity to Boys Town that the new additions don't really mesh with. Maybe would have been less disappointed with the design if they had been on the back side of the current buildings.
Oh well, always nice to see an organization like Boys Town expand, especially if it means improved access to healthcare, more research funding, and more Jobs.
Seems like the 144th street corridor south of Dodge is starting to shape up some.

Re: Boys Town Campus
This will definitely give it more of a presence from both 144th and Pacific streets. It's always been a bit hidden back there behind the trees lining the roads. It will have a bit better access too.

E&A was out surveying the NE portion of the property by 132nd/dodge few weeks ago.
Not a whole lotta farming activity happening. Must be done.

Re: Boys Town Campus
Steel is rising on the eastern section of this expansion. Looks like a crane is being assembled for the western section; I'd expect forms and concrete on that side relatively soon.

I think it will be a great addition to their facility, but I wonder if these 4 story expansions will dwarf the center portion?almighty_tuna wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:20 am Steel is now rising on the western expansion as well.
Also, I read they'll have inpatient care - my daughter had an outpatient procedure there about 10 years ago. Have they always had inpatient stays available?

Re: Boys Town Campus
I don't know the longer term history, but since they built the "Home Campus / BTNRH West" hospital (not just the old St Joe's facility) they've had inpatient. I think it started as ENT post-surgical hospital stays, but they've got a fairly strong general medical / surgical program now. The only thing that they don't have is a ED, although I believe their docs can admit from their offices / same day peds (their version of urgent care).djc311 wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:31 amI think it will be a great addition to their facility, but I wonder if these 4 story expansions will dwarf the center portion?almighty_tuna wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:20 am Steel is now rising on the western expansion as well.

I can't really explain it, but I really do not like the shade of red those bricks are. In about 40 years, people are going to be scarred by that color.skinzfan23 wrote: Wed Nov 12, 2025 2:59 pm Great addition to the hospital....as for the design...not as much.

Re: Boys Town Campus
Grow Omaha posted a news brief saying Boys Town is building a new preschool for children who are deaf or hard of hearing at the southwest corner of 132nd & Dodge. I haven't been able to find anything else about it, but it will be nice to fill in at least some of that last remaining farm land along Dodge.

Even if you haven’t seen the trucks hauling away 4,000 loads of dirt, it’s hard to miss the 200-ton crane towering over the construction site around Boys Town National Research Hospital.
Both are signs of progress for the 254,000-square-foot expansion project, which will transform the future of childhood health at Boys Town.
Construction updates since the groundbreaking last November include:
- Entrance changes for Boys Town Hospital and Medical Clinics:
- The hospital entrance at 14000 Boys Town Hospital Road and medical clinics entrance at 14080 Boys Town Hospital Road are closed.
- Patients/families can use the entrance at 14040 Boys Town Hospital Road.
- New west parking lot is complete.
- Central utility plant is being built on the east side of hospital for critical utilities.
- Deep and shallow foundations are complete.
- The pit for the anechoic chamber has been poured.
- Slab-on-grade and steel erection are getting underway, which will form the buildings’ skeletons.
