Awesome! What are you planning to build? And do you know any inside info about the status of the mall? It seems that they haven't worked on it in months... presumably because of issues moving the creek...

Apple is pretty conservative with store placement, so I doubt Omaha will see two of them. They have historically placed very small test market stores in Malls and only opened larger full fledged stores if the smaller ones are successfull. I'm curious how big our Apple Store will be when it opens. Does anyone have any idea which bay they are moving into at Village Pointe?

I'm guessing that "Apple" is going into the new 'fill-in' building that is under construction now. Other stores going in there are "Coach", "J.Crew" and "myAbode".

There aren't many other empty spots at Village Pointe.

^That's a huge building that's underconstruction in the spot you're describing. I've seen it not to long ago and think that would be a nice open space for Apple. Do they ever have stand alone stores?

We're building another one of our Omaha Chocolate Company and Gelateria stores down there. Although we're not listed on their tenant listings of the website, you can see a lot of what they have coming to that development by going to http://www.reddevelopment.com & pulling down Shadow Lake Towne Center.

I'm looking forward to the steady and repeat traffic flow that location will be exposed to with a store like Hy-Vee there. Sure, VP doesn't have a layout like that, but I think they're are benefits to both. We're going to be across the street from the main entrance to Old Navy & right next door to a Borders book store. Wish us luck!

dj... do you by any chance have access to any site renderings that we haven't seen before? (ie those on the RED site).

Hmmm, I don't think I have anything sitting here. But, I can look. And, quite honestly, so to not PO Red, I would probably see if they mind me posting or providing that information.

Awesome! You should fit in great at SLTC. But I might be biased since I'm in long walking distance to the place :-)

And Borders will be great, as there is not another book store in Sarpy County at this time! I don't think that Borders or Old Navy have been "officially" announced yet, so thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I don't think anyone has mentioned Old Navy or Borders. You might as well share those site renderings with us too dj. :D

Just FYI, NFM has no Apple Certified Apple Technians on hand. So getting repairs will be a little tricky, ala sending them in. As opposed to CompUSA, where we have 2 certified Apple techs.

I can confirm that. When my parents bought a Mac Mini (Another convert, yay!) from NFM, the salesman advised them to purchase the AppleCare plan instead of NFM's in house extended warrenty. According to him, NFM sends out Macs to an offsite vendor.

I really like the AppleCare plan. It's come in REALLY handy with my iPod - I am on my third one.

Big E - we may not completely agree on downtown improvement districts, but at least we see eye-to-eye on Macs!!

We had a mobo go out on an old Powerbook here and the Apple Care plan got us hooked up with a brand spankin' new one. Viva la Apple Care. I'm looking forward to my first mac here at work for me, personally; G5 Quad, baby

I didn't see much last night, although the advertisement semi-trailer was blown over onto it's side. And there were a lot of destroyed plasticy white fences, and street signs thrown about around 96th & 370.

Also an Apple store exclusive apparently that is the only place that you will be able to buy an Apple phone (other than online).

Now that WOULD be an exclusive... considering it doesn't exist (at least not for a LONG time).

A little sidenote (unfortunately I couldn't afford the ticket for the banquet)

Apple co-founder recalls seeds of his idea
Rather than lock up his doodles and call a patent attorney when he designed the first Apple computer, Steve Wozniak took his schematics and descriptions to a meeting of the Home Brew Computer Club, a group of geeks who shared spare parts and ideas.

If there was anybody there bent on stealing intellectual property, they overlooked the invention that launched the personal computer era.

So did some other people, to hear Wozniak tell the story Tuesday night in Omaha. Like scientists at Hewlett Packard, where Wozniak designed calculators. HP looked over the plans but passed.

I think it IS official. I talked to a friend tonight, who said that there is an Apple Store listing for Omaha on Monster.com, and that he applied for a job.

I'd say that's a sure thing. That is AWESOME!

They have the structure up, but I can't really tell what the progress is on the inside. They have it boarded up.

Saturday, I went out to Village Pointe and took a photo of the new addition. I believe the Apple store will be on the right
- the storefront with yellow above it.
