Huskers Add Tulsa Transfer Jared Garcia

Nebraska Coach Fred Hoiberg announced Monday that Tulsa transfer Jared Garcia has signed with the Nebraska men’s basketball program for the 2025-26 season. Garcia, a 6-foot-9, 245-pound forward from Houston, Texas, spent the last two years at Tulsa, where he played in 48 games for the Golden Hurricane. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Nov 15 is a Sat. I would guess as you mention, that many people spend at least one night in SF is correct. Some will come the day before, some will stay Sat night. It is a win win for sure

Nov 15 is a Sat. I would guess as you mention, that many people spend at least one night in SF is correct. Some will come the day before, some will stay Sat night. It is a win win for sure

Leo Curtis Signs with Nebraska

Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced Thursday that Leo Curtis has signed with the Huskers for the 2025-26 season.

Curtis, a 7-foot-1, 220-pound forward from Reykjavik, Iceland, spent his senior season at Cambridge Arts, Technology and Science (CATS Academy) in Braintree, Mass., where he earned National Prep All-American Honorable-Mention honors after moving to the United States last fall. Playing for coach Cary Herer, Curtis averaged 12.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.7 blocks per game. His effort helped CATS Academy to a 28-7 record, a runner-up finish in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class AA tournament and a No. 5 national ranking. For his efforts, he was a first-team All-NEPSAC Class AA honoree.

Less than a week after reports of a game at the Sanford Pentagon between old Big Eight/12 rivals, the news is official.

Nebraska men's basketball will take on Oklahoma Nov. 15 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This will be just the second meeting between the programs since 2011.

Lincoln – Matchups with NCAA Tournament qualifiers Oklahoma and Creighton and a trip to the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City highlight Nebraska’s 2025-26 men’s basketball non-conference schedule released Friday.

“We have a number of tests in our non-conference schedule, beginning with the exhibition game with a BYU team that went to the Sweet 16 last season,” Head Coach Fred Hoiberg said. “That matchup will give us a good gauge heading into the season. We open with three straight home games before facing Oklahoma and two high-caliber games in the Hall of Fame Classic the following week. The December portion of the schedule features Creighton which will be one of the favorites in the Big East and two Big Ten games before we return to conference play in January.”

The Huskers, coming off consecutive 20-win seasons, will be challenged during non-conference action. The Huskers will face Oklahoma in Sioux Falls, S.D., as the Sooners won 20 games and reached the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The pairings for the Hall of Fame Classic will be announced later this summer.

NU’s other trip during non-conference play is to Kansas City for the program’s first appearance in the Hall of Fame Classic since 2018. The four-team field includes a pair of NCAA Tournament teams in Mississippi State and New Mexico along with a Kansas State team that posted wins at Iowa State and against Kansas and Arizona last season.

Nebraska’s eight-game home slate is highlighted by the annual matchup against Creighton on Dec. 7. The Bluejays finished second in the Big East and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskers will also have two exhibition games, highlighted by a contest against a BYU squad that went 26-10 last year and adds A.J. Dybantsa, the No. 1 recruit in the nation by ESPN.

Nebraska returns five letterwinners from a team that went 21-14 in 2024-25. The group includes returning starters Berke Büyüktuncel and Sam Hoiberg, along with senior guard Connor Essegian, who averaged 10.7 ppg off the bench last season. The Huskers also regain the services of two other significant contributors to the 2024 NCAA Tournament team in All-Big Ten forward senior Rienk Mast, who averaged 12.3 points and led NU in both rebounding (7.5 rpg) and assists (3.0 apg), and Jamarques Lawrence, who played in all 34 games at NU in 2023-24 and averaged 6.9 points and 2.5 assists per game before playing at Rhode Island last season.

Lawrence (9.9 ppg at Rhode Island) is part of a six-member transfer class which includes Kendall Blue (12.3 pp, 4.4 rpg at St. Thomas), Will Cooper (5.3 ppg at Air Force) Jared Garcia (9.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg at Tulsa), Ugnius Jarusevicius (16.2 ppg, 7.3 rpg at Central Michigan) and Pryce Sandfort (8.8 ppg at Iowa). Nebraska also adds a pair of freshmen who are among the nation’s top 125 recruits in Leo Curtis (CATS Academy) and Quentin Rhymes (Hillcrest Prep).

The Big Ten home schedule this season features matchups with Big Ten regular-season champion Purdue as well as NCAA Tournament qualifiers Michigan State, Maryland, Wisconsin, Oregon and Illinois.

A promotion and a couple additional positions in the basketball program (including a familiar name):

University of Nebraska Men’s Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg announced a trio of staff changes, as Justin Moore has been promoted to Coordinator of Analytics while Braden Grant and Charlie Hoiberg will join the Husker staff as graduate managers for the 2025-26 season.

Moore is beginning his fifth season in the Husker program, as he was a graduate manager for the last two years after serving as a student manager. In his new role, Moore will assist in the advanced scouting of opponents, including player and play summaries, creating and maintaining team playbooks, serving as the main contact for the NOAH shooting system and charting analytics in game. Moore will also work with General Manager Luca Virgilio in analyzing prospects, both at the high school level and in the transfer portal.

Moore served as a graduate manager for the past two seasons, where he assisted the coaching staff with breaking down video, helping with practice, coordinating individual workouts, overseeing the student managers, assisting with on-campus visits and other day-to-day operations within the basketball program. The Englewood, Colo., native received his master’s degree in educational administration in May of 2025 after earning an undergraduate degree in business administration from Nebraska in 2023.

Grant comes to Lincoln after playing collegiately at Wright State and Cedarville (Ohio). He spent his final two seasons at Wright State after joining the Raider program. He played four games in his final season in 2024-25, including against Kentucky in the season opener. His first season at Wright State was limited to just three games before suffering a season-ending injury. Grant began his collegiate career by playing two seasons at Cedarville University in Ohio. Grant was a member of the NABC Honors Court in 2024 and graduated with a degree in financial services from Wright State this May. He will pursue his master’s degree in applied sciences at Nebraska. His father, Bob, was a longtime college administrator who served as Athletic Director at Wright State for 16 years.

Hoiberg joins the staff after serving as a student manager at Texas Christian University under Head Coach Jamie Dixon for the past two years. In that role, he assisted the coaching staff with practice planning, game preparations, and film breakdown while also helping coordinate practice and game setup for the basketball program, as the Horned Frogs reached the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Hoiberg also served an internship with the Husker basketball program in the summer of 2024. The twin brother of Husker redshirt senior Sam Hoiberg, Charlie Hoiberg was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of TCU in May, earning his degree in communication studies. He will pursue a degree in educational administration/higher education at Nebraska. Charlie’s older brother, Jack, currently works for the San Antonio Spurs organization.

Awww man, I just heard Larry Florence passed away.

Prayers are pouring in after a legendary men's college basketball player died from cancer at 49 years old.

Larry Florence, a standout men's basketball player at Nebraska in the late 1990s, passed away over the weekend. He died following a battle with cancer. Florence, a team captain at Nebraska in 1999-2000, was battling multiple myeloma, an aggressive form of blood cancer.

“You understand as a human being, God wants us to work together and help each other, but sometimes you’ve got to take a step back and be like, ‘No,’ turn your phone off and just relax,” he told the Ledger-Enquirer last April. “I want people to really concentrate on, especially men in general, to not be so manly. Get your checkups. Get your blood work done.”

Florence credited basketball with saving his life.

“It saved my life because it gave me a sense of purpose,” he said. “Once you figure out that you’re pretty good at it, now you got to work at it. … It gave me a sense of pride to be doing something that other people want to come and watch you do. … If I didn’t have basketball, I could have been out in these streets doing nonsense, whether it was drinking alcohol every day or doing drugs. … It was really difficult in the hood, as far as guys selling drugs or breaking into people’s homes or stealing cars.”

Prayers are pouring in for his friends and family members on social media.

"This hurts! A Nebraska legend and true inspiration in life. Larry thank you for your transparency and your faith through it all," one fan wrote.

"Man. This is sad. Larry Florence was such a good player," one fan added.

"Very sad to hear the passing of Larry Florence," one fan added.

"Gutted hearing the news of Larry Florence’s passing. RIP L-Flo! ," one fan added.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family members during this difficult time.

There is a lot of good info on this site. Including tower height, location, etc. The coverage maps also take terrain and elevation into account. I used this a few years ago to find coverage of stations that I could listen to a Husker FB game on while driving and to get some idea of where I would be able to pick them up. Since then, I refer to it occasionally, just because I find it interesting.

Thank you! Looking at this, initially couldn't figure out why 97.3 coverage wasn't as strong in Omaha. Finally saw that they are based in Blair. Mistakenly thought they were an Omaha station.

There is a lot of good info on this site. Including tower height, location, etc. The coverage maps also take terrain and elevation into account.
