And the kicker is - the photograph for the cover of Time was taken on Friday here in Omaha. Apparently Bill and Melinda made another unannounced visit, and U2 stayed in town an extra day for a charity meeting with Susan & Howard Buffett, among others.

Hopefully, the stellar arena, the great crowd (I was there - awesome show), and the huge philanthropic community in Omaha ensures U2 will visit next time around!

Wow, that's totally cool. And the reporting fashion of the article about it was very matter-of-fact and simple, sans stereotypes. I like that.

That's interesting, because I always wonder how long, if at all, these superstars stay in Omaha after their concerts. Well this is one instance where the performer DEFINITELY stuck around.

U2's Bono makes low-key drop-ins at Dundee eateries

So a rock star walks into a bar . . . And Scott Piotrowski, bar manager at the Dundee Dell, gets this call at home early Sunday afternoon from a friend. "Bono's at the Dell." Piotrowski heard Bono tell an employee that the best meal he'd had in Omaha was the Dell's breakfast pizza.

Sunday night, Bono showed up for dinner at Trovato's, just a stone's throw from the Dundee Dell. It was karaoke night, but the U2 frontman stayed in a back room, where he dined with friend Susie Buffett and several others. Buffett serves on the board of DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa), a group Bono helped form in 2002 to raise awareness of poverty and AIDS in Africa.

Bo Pelini has finalized his first Husker coaching staff, officially announcing eight of his nine full-time assistants on Monday.

Not made known is who will coach the running backs. Pelini has already hired someone for the position, but said he will name the individual in early January, after that coach has finished working with his current team in a bowl game.

I'm not sure where Bono is currently coaching, but I think it is obvious he is about to join the Husker coaching staff as running backs coach! Bo knows Bono?

Already at the bar was World-Herald editorial cartoonist Jeff Koterba, who also plays in an Irish band. Not really the starstruck type, Koterba said he even gawked — at first because the guy walking in had on sunglasses at about 9:45 p.m.

“You just don't expect to look up and see Bono,” Koterba said. “It was bizarre.”

Bono was with an entourage of about 15, including friend Susie Buffett. Buffett serves on the board of DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa), a group Bono that helped form in 2002 to raise awareness of poverty and AIDS in Africa.

The humanitarian superstar has dropped by the Dell on previous trips to Omaha, often for breakfast. Huston said she heard he would be in town for more than a day, and she hopes he stops in again
