Great to hear...I am wondering if they are going to have to cap season tickets in the near future. I know that there was a story saying that they would always like to leave around 1,000 - 2,000 walk-up tickets available for each game.

I can't wait to get my season tickets. I just hope that I able to get a cheap ticket for the Marquette game on Dec 31. We have a friend coming from out of town and with it being the first Big East game for Creighton and a New Year's Eve game, I figure it may be hard to get a ticket. I am also excited about being able to go watch the fireworks downtown, grab a bite to eat, and then head over to the CenturyLink Center.

According to the story from the World Herald, they have sold more than 14,500 season tickets, which is almost 800 more than last year's record 13,731. The story goes on to state that once 15,000 season tickets are reached, the school is thinking about capping the tickets.

One other thing to point out from the article:
Rider said this year the school will go to a three-tier pricing system. Fans will pay the lowest price for tickets to six first-tier games — Northern State (exhibition), Alcorn State, Missouri-Kansas City, Tulsa, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Chicago State. Conference games against Marquette and Georgetown will be considered third-tier games and will be the highest-priced ticket.

Creighton’s other seven league games as well as nonconference contests against Nebraska and California will be considered second-tier games, with tickets priced between the first- and third-tier games. Rider said exact ticket prices have not been determined.

Creighton nabs 2014 forward Leon Gilmore
NBC Sports wrote:Creighton — with its move from the Missouri Valley Conference to the Big East — is facing the challenge of previously recruiting at a mid-major level and switching to a high-major level and the Bluejays are off to a solid start with Monday’s commitment of 2014 forward Leon Gilmore.

The commitment of Gilmore, as first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com, is significant for the Bluejays because they’re getting a 6’7″ forward that had other high-major scholarship offers and it helps legitimize them with other high-major targets they’re recruiting.

For the Bluejays to land a high-major commitment from a player that had in-state high-major scholarship offers from schools like Texas Tech and Houston means that Creighton is doing something correct on the recruiting trail as they transition to the Big East.

Received this in an email from Creighton today:
Dear Creighton Fan,

As a loyal supporter of Creighton’s athletic teams and student-athletes, you are cordially invited to a CenturyLink Center Omaha Open House that will include a “New Conference, New Look” Creighton Athletics brand unveiling.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the main entrance doors to the CenturyLink Center arena will open at 4:45 p.m. prior to the 5:30 p.m. BIG EVENT, with free parking provided in Lot B (west of the arena).

You’ll see new features in the CenturyLink Center, such as the new scoreboard above center court, new video boards and the renovated Lexus Club Lounge. Concessions will be open. At 5:30 p.m., we will begin the countdown . . . to the unveiling of the new First National Bank Court, including Creighton’s BIG, new center-court athletic logo! After that, stick around as Coach Greg McDermott runs members of the men’s basketball team through some drills on the new arena floor.

Upper bowl seats not yet sold as season tickets will be tagged and available for immediate purchase and attendees will receive a commemorative poster while supplies last.

Don’t miss this moment in Bluejay history. We hope to see you there!

Bleacher Report recently did a ranking of the best arenas in the new Big East. Ranked on the basis of attendance/capacity, atmosphere, and some "intangibles"... Creighton and the C-Link come in at #3. Not too bad in the company our new conference. Definitely a good read for those looking to learn about the new conference and kill some time before the season starts!

Creighton Logos Through History
Editors Note: With Creighton set to unveil their new logo at a ceremony Wednesday evening at CenturyLink Center, we thought it would be fun to look back at the history of Creighton’s logos. Through old press clippings, yearbooks and issues of The Creightonian, we compiled this visual history of the Bluejays.

It has a dark, very ominous feeling to it. If that is the impression they want about the Creighton Basketball team, it is cool, bu for portraying the city, it makes it feel like Omaha is "a dark and stormy night" city.

From the Creighton website:
Bluejay fans can catch a glimpse of the 2013-14 Creighton basketball teams by attending “Bluejay Madness” at D.J. Sokol Arena inside the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center on Friday, October 25.

The event, presented by First National Bank of Omaha, is in conjunction with Fox Sports 1’s “BIG EAST Tip-Off Party” telecast scheduled to air that night from 8-10 p.m., Central time. Creighton’s event at D.J. Sokol Arena will begin at 7:15 p.m., and will include introductions of both the women’s and men’s teams, a three-point shooting contest, scrimmages by both squads and comments to the crowd by head coaches Greg McDermott and Jim Flanery.

Admission is free, seating is general admission and venue doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the event and 2013-14 roster sheets for each team will be available free of charge.

The event is scheduled to run for about 90 minutes and players from both teams will be available for autographs at the event’s conclusion.

Once these recruiting classes start going through, I don't think many of you will miss Echinique. Yes, he was a sizeable presence in the Mo Valley, but he's outmatched against almost any team in the "Big East". Just not athletic enough.

Yeah, recruits will come, but this year there is not a great 5 on the team, I hear Big E will single McD , downplaying his hype. I also read where C, PF, SF, SG, PG are going out of style... Playing 1-5 is so different in College... What really is Dougie? Could he play 1-5?

I can't believe that Creighton didn't make the top 25, but then again this poll means absolutely nothing. It just means that you have a good returning squad and that you had a great finish last year. The polls don't reflect a team until at least the 2nd or 3rd week when all powerhouse programs are done playing their easy non-conference schedules and actually start to take on some good competition.

I am not surprised at all that Creighton isn't ranked.. If you count when they lost in the tournament last year they were somewhere between 17-32 and since they've been a mid major team for all of their existence there is no way they are going to get more love than a power house program.
