I think those "shadows" are actually the reflections of the first national and woodmen tower on the convex face of the building.iamjacobm wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 6:09 pmThese are great!Brad wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 7:46 pm Two from this evening!

Do you think the skinny shadow on the lower part of the building is from the UNO bell tower? It’s especially prominent in the second photo with the pointed top.

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
Thanks!
Yeah it is. That was my origional plan for shooting it and then I took my daughter to the Zoon on Saturday and when we left I scoped out the shot a little higher and thought it was good and then I could make better use of the car light streaking down 13th street. The only problem is there are telephone polls right on the right edge of 13th street so it really made it tough to get it exactly how I wanted. Still might scope out the exit ramp again.
Thanks Lou!
Yes, it does. Kind of that way on the 75th street shot too. I believe its just an optical illusion with the curving face of the building.WorldStreet wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 3:36 am In the photo from 90th and Dodge, there's a bit of an illusion for me as my eyes keep seeing the Mutual Tower as being closer than the Woodman.
I agree with 2Adam29, its the Woodman. Just an optical illusion with the curving face of the building. At first I thought it was the radio tower, but after editing the other photo I figured it out.iamjacobm wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 6:09 pm These are great!

Here is a screen shot showing the sun at the time I shot that. It goes right through the Woodman.

Thanks to both you and 2Adam29 for explaining that. Was just a curious "shadow" on the building but that all makes sense.Brad wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 10:21 pmThanks!

They have to be getting close to fully enclosed. Anyone have an updated on that timing? Do we know if they'll take the tower crane down as soon as that happens?

Just a guess here, the last of the glass will go in slower. I believe they were do most of the glass from the floor above where they were working, and now thats not an option.Ben wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2026 8:22 am They have to be getting close to fully enclosed. Anyone have an updated on that timing?

I've been patiently waiting since it was announced to finalize my downtown backdrop. When we toured, I believe they were thinking late spring or early summer.

I absolutely cannot wait to shoot this view at Sunset! From the top of the MidAmerican Adventure Tower in CB. The composition is absolutely amazing with all three towers visible, the bridge snaking through the comp and many building still visible above the CHI. Perfect placement by the designers!

This isn't a construction complaint as it's kind of impressive all the work being done in that photo. North Downtown crane, CHI Expansion, downtown streetcar, and the tower all being worked. Any others I'm missing? It's a "where's waldo" of construction.

Looks like the reflection on the building is different at the top than the bottom. Is that because of the curve or the clouds? Something cool I have noticed with this building is how the reflection changes so much as you move around the building. Its so different than anything else we have in Omaha.

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
So it depends, are you talking about the variance in display of the sky from different panes of the curtainwall, or are you talking about the mullions? Both are viable answers caused by the curve, as the panes reflection will start to skip portions of the sky being angled upward(will highlight sunset clouds more), while the mullions catch light more being angled toward the sun's path! A neat visual trick!

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
It was the clouds creating spot lighting. The clouds were racing by, you can see spotlighting on the FNBO tower too. I snaped 8-10 photos in about a min and they were all different. This was my favorite with the light at the top like that.windsor wrote: Mon Apr 20, 2026 8:22 amLooks like the reflection on the building is different at the top than the bottom. That said some morning when a storm is rolling in with black clouds to the west, but still full sun to the east, there is going to be some really interesting photo ops. I kind of caught something similar a couple weeks ago from the west, that photo is posted on a previous page of this thread.

With the upper portion of the tower being curved, how are they going to do window cleaning?
