Sounds like Taco Bell, full menu with 9 ingredients...ChadJK wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 12:03 pm I like it. The food is good, but the selection is lacking. As previously noted, it's all basically a diced meat tossed in an Asian-inspired sauce served on a bed of white rice. They just have like 9 variations of that same thing.

I can still hear my dad complaining when we'd settle on eating at Taco Bell, "Everything there tastes the same!"

Haha, he's not wrong, although I like Taco Bell. Sometimes, places with fewer things do it better though. I think about BK, they have burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, chicken nuggets, fish, wraps, chicken fries not mention deserts and some other weird random things sometimes. Just too many things on the menu and everything is ok, but they don't really specialize in any of them. I also think of Raising Cane's, pretty much just chicken fingers, but they do it well.ChadJK wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 12:21 pm

interesting they keep opening further West. Surprised they aren't doing something like Papillion, Central omaha, or Bellevue.

I'm being an absolute pedant, but the Gretna location just off 370 and I80 will be (South)East of their new 203rd location longitudinally.

That whole area by the Walmart is so far east of Gretna, sometimes I actually forget its part of Gretna.Stan wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 1:02 pm I'm being an absolute pedant, but the Gretna location just off 370 and I80 will be (South)East of their new 203rd location longitudinally.

Fair. I'm not sure I think of anything east of 168th as being part of Gretna.Brad wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 8:03 amThat whole area by the Walmart is so far east of Gretna, sometimes I actually forget its part of Gretna.Stan wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 1:02 pm I'm being an absolute pedant, but the Gretna location just off 370 and I80 will be (South)East of their new 203rd location longitudinally.

From a post on Omaha Food Lovers:
Every day after the KC royals score 6 or more runs at home, Hawaiian Bros is offering free plate lunches. You have to sign up for the rewards program but good food for free, double win

Went there for lunch the other day. The menu seems to consist mostly of variations on teriyaki chicken. Having been there, I know Hawaiian food isn’t the most exciting or broad, but they do eat a lot of pork. It was decent, but their menu choices were not very representative.

I remember around 2003 Krispy Kreme did a special where if the Royals got 12 hits at home, you got a free dozen. The Royals caught fire that here and it started causing traffic jams at the local Krispy Kremes, right after the games. Initially you didn't have to wait to get them. They then started requiring fans to wait 24 hours.remline wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 11:04 amHey, I don't appreciate what they are implying about our offensive prowess!Greg S wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 10:26 am Every day after the KC royals score 6 or more runs at home, Hawaiian Bros is offering free plate lunches. On the homestand that just ended, the Royals scored six or more runs the last 4 straight games!

I would assume that with many promotions like this, they have purchased an insurance policy for at least over a certain amount of claims

I would just about gaurantee that they get several customers coming in expecting a free meal when the Royals scored 6 runs in an away game and then having to explain that it's only valid at home games.CBJason wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2026 9:25 am Lol. I honestly don't know. Royals have hit 6 runs or more at home and we aren't even to May yet. I hope for Hawaiian Bros your assumption is correct. They are getting a ton of publicity for it. I like that they included their out of KC markets like Omaha in the promotion. That's somewhat rare.nebugeater wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2026 9:27 amI would assume that with many promotions like this, they have purchased an insurance policy for at least over a certain amount of claims

Hawaiian Bros is changing its popular Royals promotion after fans packed restaurants across the Kansas City area.
The restaurant chain announced it is adjusting its “Plates for Plates” deal with the Kansas City Royals from a free meal offer to a buy-one-get-one-style promotion.

Not surprised. Some had doubted the Royals would score enough to trigger this. Obviously they have and it's been quite popular. Saw some tweeting about this online. Even outside of KC it was having an impact. One guy posted it was causing traffic jams on 23rd St and Lawrence. 23rd is the busiest or one of the 2 or 3 busiest streets in Lawrence.nebugeater wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 5:41 am The rules for the Royals promtion have changed

As a Royals fan I have been thrilled their offense is clicking (and not at all surprised it came around).
