Not channel 6, but this haunted house clip is absolute gold. A true treasure...

For the last few years, I've been watching various clips of old news openings from the late 80's and early 90's on YouTube and those that introduced their respective talents at the tops of their newscasts usually do so in this order: News anchors, meteorologist and sportscaster. But I've noticed that on some stations, usually ABC-affiliated ones, they introduced the sportscaster before the meteorologist. KETV did that back then. Was it just customary for ABC-affiliated stations to do that?

In most places outside the tornado alley, sports is more important to the market. If you are in Philly or Boston and all the college teams barely get mentioned because of all the pro team news, and the weather is pretty stable, you have more demand for sports and less for weather.
