If this were to go through, it wouldn't affect Omaha's AAA status. They would remain in the Pacific Coast League or splinter off, along with some other central teams, to the International League. Another possibility would be to form a new AAA league of 10 teams. That would result in 3 AAA leagues at 10 teams each. There's talk that a couple of Independent league teams could replace a couple of AAA teams. Those would be St. Paul replacing Fresno with Fresno becoming an A team in the California League. The other would be Sugarland (Houston suburb) replacing Round Rock. Round Rock could possibly become an AA team in the Texas League.
