Creighton is a 4 point underdog at Kansas on Dec 8th. That is actually a pretty good compliment for Creighton. Just the same I would have to bet on Kansas with those points.

As mentioned earlier, this is going to be a crazy season, if there is one at all.

Creighton just withdrew from the Sioux Falls tournament due to multiple positive Covid tests.

Assuming there is a 14 day quarantine, that would put those players out of commission until the 4th or 5th of December. With the "V" worse in the Dakotas then most places on the planet going to Sioux Falls was a dumb idea anyways.

4 Star Top 100 Mason Miller commits to Creighton. According to 247 Sports, it's now the 8th ranked recruiting class of 2021.

Never in my days would I have thought that to be possible.

Crazy Day for Creighton... 1. Kyle Korver and Anthony Tolliver meet the pope, 2. Lebron James’s nephew commits to CU, and 3. the dude from “Quick Change” passed away.

One heck of a recruiting class for Creighton! The best ever in program history and there is even a chance they could still add Hunter Sallis.

I am really excited to see Mason Miller commit. I think he really fits Creighton’s style of play perfectly. I am really excited for what Creighton has built and continues to build. I think most would agree that they have exceeded expectations since the move to the Big East!

That is sad news to hear of the quick change guy passing. I always loved their show. Any idea what he died from?

Well not an actually nephew of LeBron's. :D Mason's dad Mike Miller (South Dakota high school player) played with Lebron at Cleveland and Miami.

Creighton now added a game on Sunday with N Dakota St, that is promising since I thought they might cancel some of their other early season games.

Yep, they are now #9.

They didn't look sharp in the opening game but considering Mahoney was held out due to Covid and the team hasn't been allowed to practice, that is understandable. They had a great 5 min stretch to start the 2nd half where they scored 16 pts, but then they went pretty cold after that.

I was impressed by Christian Bishop and Ryan Kalkbrenner (freshman 7 footer) Hopefully they can continue their strong start.

Tomorrow is UNO @ Creighton!!!

Creighton is a 20 point favorite over UNO today. With that many points I'll take UNO but Creighton is very capable of covering.

I know Creighton plays Nebraska every year, and its kinda a big deal in-state. It seems like Creighton usually wins.

Do they also play UNO every year?

It would be really really cool if these games carried some national significance, such as if #9 Creighton played a ranked Nebraska or a good UNO.

Creighton is holding up their end of the deal.

Not usually. It was added this year. I’d like to see this intra-city rivalry continue just like the in state CU-NU...

It'll only be a rivalry if it is competitive. So hopefully it will be.

So its at CHI this year, presumably will be at Baxter next year. That would be a really cool series if they can be competitive and make it stick.

Based on this column it was kind of late scheduled fill-in game and at this time not a yearly series.

This game is not going to be competitive as the past few exhibitions between the teams haven't even been close. It would be cool for it to be an annual series but until UNO can recruit better it isn't going to happen.

The Jays are currently on a 27-3 run. If they keep this up, this game won't be competitive much longer.

50-26 at half and Zegarowski already has 8 pts and 8 rebs, Christian Bishop has 12 pts and 7 rebs. The Jays started a little slow again, but seem to be rolling now.

Jays were up by 36 at one point and won 94-67! Zegarowski had a career-high 11 assts. Much better complete game by the Jays and actually looked like the #9 team in the nation.

Absolutely no contest. Not that I thought the Jays were in danger.. But I was hoping Omaha could hang with them a bit longer than they did...

I know it was BFE University, but seeing Kalkbrenner go off for 16 and 7 was good to see.

We'll see how things go against Kansas... I just hope that folks don't jump off the proverbial bridge if it turns out like SDSU last year.

Oh man, that's going to be a big game! Anybody know what the highest combined rank for a Creighton matchup is? What was Creighton's highest rank vs the other team highly ranked... Is it this game? Last biggest one I can think of is #11 Creighton vs #8 Butler last year.

I think the Nova game on New Year's Eve 2016: Nova #1 CU #10

The CU-Kansas matchup might be Creighton's highest ranking ever. They are currently 9th but 3 teams ahead of them lost this week. They have never been higher than 7th (done 3 times before). Kansas meanwhile might move up to 4th.

Thank you for the info. I think maybe a better way to ask my question would be : What is the highest rank Creighton has ever had in a game vs a team ranked higher?

The game you identified does appear to be the game thus far. And this next one looks to easily out-do that one.

I feel like we keep saying this every year or so for the Jays program, but today could be one of the biggest games in program history. Kansas is allowing about 2,500 fans into the game, so it won't be completely empty, but I hope Mitch Ballock has a break out game vs the team he grew up near.

Creighton's only played one other game versus a top ten team (AP Top 25 poll) when they were also a top ten team -- #10 Creighton vs #1 Villanova in 2016. I pulled this from CU's game notes ahead of today's game -- Rob Anderson does such an amazing job compiling stats and data for these. Certainly makes my work on White & Blue Review a lot easier.

https://gocreighton.com/news/2020/12/7/ ... attle.aspx

Creighton is 10-12 all-time as a ranked team when facing a ranked team, including a 9-8 overall mark under Greg McDermott. Creighton is 0-1 in top-10 battles, falling in the final minutes to lose its only previous chance to No. 1 Villanova in 2016 when the Jays were ranked 10th. Here's those games:

Not a terrible first half for the Jays. They are playing a little sped up, but only down 35-39 at half. Christian bishop already has 9 pts and 4 rebs. Need Zegarowski to settle down and lead the team.

Wow, what a game.

Z gets fouled shooting a 3 with 1 sec left, down by 3.

He makes the first 2 and misses the last one. Jays lose by one 72-73.

That was a bummer way to lose, but going toe to toe with Kansas at the Phog (yes, I know there weren't many fans) is not too bad. That said, they've got to get that 3 point shooting back.

Have to close out with a win v Nebraska and head into conference play strong.

Yes, I was still loving the fight in the Jays. They didn't give up even though they were down 5 with a little over a min to go. This team has shown that they can learn from losses, especially losses last year.

Lets hope they come out strong and blow away the Skers yet again on Friday.

A one point loss to Kansas? That is just fine, everybody knows Kansas is a powerhouse. They probably won't even lose any ranking over it. Like if the 'Skers football team went toe to toe with Alabama... Creighton is really good.
