I'm sure they're keeping an eye on the portal. It's essentially free agency, why wouldn't they?

i'm pretty sure they are. I listen to 590 on my way home and they have talked a lot about it. Apparently they've already met with some qb's to compliment Brock and Heinrich (even though a big name qb would get the start anyway)

Heinrich and Chubba look like very capable backups. Chubba especially looks like he is close to becoming a starter but needs to cut down on turnovers, I love his quick acceleration speed.

Nobody is going to miss Sims, but I wish him luck. Possible position change might be in order or drop to a non Power 5 team. If Nebraska wants to take that next step they need to improve quarterback play immediately that much is obvious.

There's a few names in the portal I'd be impressed with the Skers landing. It'll be interesting to see if they can land a top 3 transfer. Cam ward, Kyle McCord, and Will Howard seem to be the targets any school will welcome. I don't have a read on any of them, but it sounds like they're the ones to go after.

Texas 2024 athlete JD Crisp decommits from Nebraska

The recruitment of Texas three-star prospect JD Crisp happened at a lightning-quick pace. And now, seemingly just as quickly as he committed to Matt Rhule and the Nebraska football program, he's moving on from it.

I'm not sure what to read into this, if anything. I don't think this guy was ever on campus either before or after he committed.

Social media buzzing amid curiously timed Dylan Raiola Instagram post, rumors

As of this writing, Dylan Raiola is still committed to Georgia. The 5-star prospect is still publicly with the Georgia Bulldogs, as he has been since May. But there appears to be some question as to how long that may end up being the case. According to reports from Chad Simmons of On3 and Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Nebraska is making a strong push to try and flip Raiola. Wiltfong was as far as making an official prediction that Raiola will end up at Nebraska. That has not happened yet. Though shortly after the Raiola rumors dropped, the quarterback had a curiously timed Instagram post. He thanked those at Buford High School, where Raiola spent his senior year.

I've grumbled a lot over the last two years about NIL changing college football into a pro league. But there is nothing about this that's not completely awesome. Wow. McCord and Raiola on the roster next year? Holy |expletive|. If the 2024 defense turns out to be as good as this year's D, I'd look for Nebraska to be a Top 4 of 5 Big 10 team next year -- in a league that includes Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Washington, Oregon and USC. I think Nebraska jumps right into the middle of that mix.

I think one committing wouldn't affect the other much, if at all. If both commit McCord starts in his final year and Raiola can play in four games and learn, then have four years. They both were going to be at Ohio State together.

Wow, I did a little more digging into this rumor and it looks like multiple outlets have Nebraska as the favorite to land Kyle McCord. AND they all say there's smoke with Dylan Raiola flipping his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska. That would be HUGE for the Huskers, not only in actual play on the field, but in perception for other recruits. If they pull this off, the Huskers will have officially landed on the scene.

Idk, I mean, only one guy can throw the football at a time. I doubt the other two left out in the cold would stick around to warm the bench.

This. Was Raiola expecting to start at Georgia or Ohio St his first year? Purdy would be the most likely player it would impact. Also having only three QBs to start the season was not ideal having some depth is needed and to be expected at any power 5 school.

It truly is time to let go of the romanticized idea of old where homegrown talent and amateur athletes spend four years building a program, yadda yadda. Yet not so many years ago that same old school money was "bringing the program home" with Frost and selling the Nebraska values bandwagon sideshow.

It's the NFL but with private donors now. Anyone who thinks differently is naïve af.

Hey, I don't mind if that's the case. Its not the school paying them in any case. However, I heard McCord's father has ties with Rhule and Satterfield, and obviously Raiola has his uncle coaching in Lincoln and Nebraska was on the table for him before.

However it's been done, it would make a big splash and put Nebraska on the map.

I do think it's feasible for McCord to start next year and hold Raiola without him bolting. I don't think Raiola expects to start year one in any situation.
