He was projected late first round. I was hoping he would go to Boston. He just fits in their system; he is a smart passer, can handle the ball and is a great 3 point shooter. Good size and intense competitor. I could see him getting minutes as a rookie. Good for him and good for the Celtics!

Alexander has comfortably been Denver’s second-best option in Las Vegas behind Strawther. And with Strawther resting Tuesday’s game, the new two-way player from Creighton got an opportunity to shine as a lead guard. Alexander went for 18 points and eight rebounds, bringing his Summer League averages to 16 and 5.3.

The rookie plays with good spatial instinct and operates at his own pace with the ball. He’s knocking down 3s off the dribble and the catch. He’s getting to the line when he attacks the rim. He said on the broadcast Tuesday that Denver knew the Hornets would be in a lot of drop coverage, allowing him to prioritize getting to his confident midrange jumper.

After three steady performances — starting when he came off the bench last Friday — Alexander is shooting 50% on 10.7 field goal attempts per game and 46% on 4.3 outside attempts per game. Seeing as Michael Malone was already impressed by his week at mini camp before the trip to Vegas, this summer might be tracking toward Alexander becoming a valuable regular-season role player.

Isaacs is one of the most impactful transfers in the country. Creighton needed a boost of creativity and scoring in their backcourt to compensate for losing Alexander to the NBA. Isaacs has cemented himself as one of the nation’s best self-creating scorers in his two years at Texas Tech.

The fans in Lubbock, Texas would have wanted to see much better returns from downtown than 29.3% on 7.3 attempts per game. That’s the crucial area that will determine if Isaacs will be able to carry the scoring load for a hungry Creighton squad that can win the Big East this upcoming season.

Another feasible aspect is that Isaacs is used to having the ball in his hands while positively impacting a team. He led the Big 12 in usage (29.7%) while he led Coach McCasland’s squad to be a no. 6 seed, eventually falling to NC State in the first round.

Kalkbrenner is the best big man in college basketball, period. Creighton has lost Scheierman and Alexander to the NBA but brought back one of the transfer portal’s best players in Pop Isaacs while also bringing a versatile scoring punch in Jamiya Neal, who spent this past season at Arizona State.

The fifth-year senior has a clear path to the NBA but made the right decision in maximizing his NIL earnings while closing out his college basketball career in style as an all-time Creighton great.

For the NBA, Kalkbrenner will be a highly touted prospect who can rise to the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

Some good stuff right here. I have some real hope and optimism the Jays can win the Big East and be athletic enough to legitimately be a top 5 team and final 4 contender this season. I’m more optimistic now about 2024/2025, than I was at this point last year about the 2023/2024 team..which might have been coach Mac’s best job coaching his team to reach their max potential…

I am optimistic as well, but it is hard to tell how this team is going to do. Without Baylor last year, I feel like the team would have struggled at times. He was the most consistent player. Trey was great when he was on, but there were quite a few games where he wasn't as good and his 3pt shooting struggled as well. Kalk was also very good and they are going to need much of the same to have a chance this year.

Pop has the potential to be really good, but he mightily needs to improve his 3pt shooting. Neal is in that same boat, really needs to bring up his shooting, he is more athletic than the typical Creighton player we are used to seeing and can score at the midrange, but hopefully with the Jay's spacing, he can improve from 3. Ashworth will be good if he continues to do what he did in the 2nd half of last season.

Overall I think they have a chance to finish in the top 3 in the Big East and possibly win it, but at this point I have no clue what to expect in the post season.

Montenegrin wing Fedor Zugic is departing professional basketball overseas to sign an NIL deal with Creighton, and he could immediately be one of the best players in college basketball.

Creighton is possibly the pick for 2025 6'6" guard Hudson Greer. Just today there were crystal balls for him to join Creighton and then a message saying he is picking between Creighton, Kansas and Alabama at 11:30 CST today.

His a top 35 recruit with great athleticism and and a great shot. We shall see.

Greer is a wing who combines solid size, vertical athleticism, shooting potential, a very solid natural feel for the game, and mature approach.

His basketball IQ may actually be his best attribute. He just really knows how to play. He's a good passer and quick decision-maker who often immediately knows where the ball is supposed to go. He can feed the post and pass with both hands. He cuts and moves without the ball extremely well and will run lanes hard to get easy baskets in transition.
The Fit at Creighton
Greg McDermott wins with players who can think the game and play with skill. His intricate playbook and advanced offensive system requires players who can not only space the floor and make shots, but also read the game and make good decisions with the ball. That's Greer and that's exactly why Creighton made him such an early priority.

According to the OWH, the release later today is that Creighton has a new court design.

A new color scheme will feature a new courtside gradient, along with a feather pattern inside the 3-point line. Heritage logos inside the arc will also pay homage to CU’s history.

Just inside the 3-point line will be seven core Jesuit values, such as “women and men for and with others” and “unity of heart, mind and soul.”

Six numbers will be on the west sideline for the six Jays with their jersey retired. Three will be in front of one bench, three in front of the other. It’s the latest way CU has honored Doug McDermott (No. 3), Kyle Korver (25), Bob Harstad (30), Bob Portman (33), Paul Silas (35) and Bob Gibson (45).

The Bluejay logo across midcourt will have “1916” in the eye as a nod to the program’s first recognized year of intercollegiate basketball.

CU Athletics added 75 additional courtside seats, too, after 60 seats were added a couple seasons ago. There are now 360 total courtside seats. Those options, similar to the up-close feel of NBA arenas, were also a part of an offseason redesign at Sokol Arena.
