Only significance is that it is one of the few vestiges of the village of Portal.
The only other one that I know of is the Portal Cemetery on 108th next to the new La Vista Fire Station.
After several floodings Portal residence moved to Papillion with this schoolhouse.

The original name was "Angelo's" restaurant, owned by the DiGiaccomo family. I think it was built in the 60's. It was one of the top restaurants in Omaha back then. Didn't the '75 tornado level the place?

I remember being there - when it was a bar - in '78 or '79.
I remember it being an electronics place in the late 80's, Early 90's. The railroad was still using that track until 1991 or so. That track could have been a GREAT light rail line... Downtown Omaha (via UP), to 50th and G Street, 76th and Dodge, to Irvington, to Bennington, to Fremont!

I know the club you're talking about.
I first remember it as Pogo's, a disco type place maybe 1977 or so.
It then turned into the Electric Cowboy, which didn't last long. I remember the guy who used to manage the bar at the NY Times downtown was manager there when it was the Electric Cowboy.
I think it then turned into an appliance shop.
When I did the piece on old Omaha restaurants, I did find references to Angelo's Studio Inn on that site.
