I used to think their lunch special and happy hour deal wasn't bad, but that's when it was about $11. Two sushi rolls and a salad. Now I think it's about $17 or something for the same deal.

I saw that. It used to be $11 for 2 Rolls and Salad and Soup. Now it's like $17 for 2 Rolls and Salad or Soup.

Thankfully the economy is going to be making a complete 180 so everything should go down by about 50%

I've had two meals at Blue Sushi now and couldn't be more disappointed. The sushi is tasteless, everything else was bland. The gyoza tasted nothing like traditional Japanese gyoza.

Been in Omaha 2 years now and still haven't found decent sushi. I hope this wasn't the best in the area.

Koji, Yoshitomo, and Umami are my top three in the metro. Koji and Yoshi are both owned and operated by the same chef David Utterback, though he has turned Koji's kitchen over to a different, trusted chef for the most part. I urge you to try one of them and see how it compares to your Blue experiences.

If you're judging sushi in Omaha by going only to Blue, then you deserve every bit of disappointment.

Head down to Bellevue and hit up Umami.

Koji, Yoshitomo, and Umami are my top three in the metro.

Haven't been to Koji, but the other two recommendations are spot on. I'd go with Umami for more traditional "simple" sushi, and 'Tomo for the "cheffed-up" stuff.

Blue really is not what it used to be. Expanding across the country, and losing Utterback to Yoshitomo, have both had impacts I’m sure. I’m happy the Omaha sushi scene has progressed to where there’s better options than Blue used to be.

Blue used to be one of the hippest places in town and the cool kids would go eat there. Anymore, I'd rather just pick up a roll from Bakers. 156th and Dodge is equally as good as Blue from the last time I ate at their Legacy location.

I'm by no means a sushi snob... most people say I technically don't even eat real sushi because I get the Hotel Cali from Blue, which is fried with a tempura on it. But, it's the only way I will really eat it. My wife, however, enjoys all types.

The thing I liked most about Blue is that we could go there for lunch and get salad, soup and two rolls for about $11-$12. It's nearly double that now, especially if you want both soup and salad. I feel the one I order still tastes the same to me, and my wife seems pleased with hers, but we definitely don't go too often due to the cost.

They better figure out a way to keep people coming in the door now that they added another 1200-1600 sq ft at Legacy. Even though they're connected to the development owner, if you're not making money, you won't keep the doors open.

I bet most people don't even remember they had an Italian place over in Eagle Run Plaza on 132nd and Maple for a short time... it had a Vespa inside where you checked in for a table. That place must have bombed because they didn't even give it much of a chance to get going.

The Asian food fad has progressed from Sushi to Pho to Ramen and I think Hot Pot seems to be the current obsession around here. Remember in the 90s when Mongolian BBQ was just the coolest thing ever? lol

My Chinese wife and I have never been big fans of Hot Pot. Incidentally, we spent a month in Vietnam in 2024 eating various styles of Pho, including in Hanoi. However, last Fall we finally found our favorite Pho happened to be in Omaha at the in-house restaurant at the Asian Market. That might be the difference between a Chinese wife and a Vietnamese wife.

Yep! It was only there a short period of time - we didn’t even have a chance to try it.
