Gives them enough time to REST but they would get more time to prepare. I think they should of played and I have a hard time supporting a team that doesn’t always want to play to get better. Some players could of opted out if they didn’t want to play. Even if they lose the game, the practice and game time experience is worth it. Not much difference between 3-5 and 3-6 to me.
That is what I heard too but in addition, I heard that the slots were filled with other teams before they got to the Huskers.

I’ve turned the page on NU football 2020..

I can see the reasoning on both sides of the play vs don’t play in a bowl game..

For me, if this was a normal college football season, the Huskers were not good enough on the field, in the regular season to earn a bowl bid..

My hope is they are good enough in 2021..and earn a bowl bid because their on the field level of play shows they deserve it...

That's where I'm at on the bowl game... They didn't do anything to earn one, so I can't believe there are people upset that they opted out... And let's be honest, did we really want to see another game?

Turning the page is the right call.

Honestly...We wanted to see them play a bowl game. What else do we have to do in the middle of the pandemic in the middle of winter?

I think not playing is the best decision for the program. Bowl practices and games are over rated in terms of future development. And this team is not going to get better at anything. It's best to end it and have coaches focus on recruiting and needed changes. Hopefully Frost has a plan.

At the same time, I think not playing is a bad look for Nebraska. It's also concerning they voted to quit given the culture problems that apparently still hold the program back. There doesn't seem much of a committment to get better. But I guess we'll see next year.

It will be interesting to see how many bowls actually happened. This was the news in Tampa tonight --- 2020 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl cancelled. The South Carolina team had to pull out because of Covid cases. UAB was the other team.

Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla bowl? Oh no! Not that one! Might as well shut down football forever. /s

Seriously, what is a gasparilla? Honest advertising for bad Mexican food?

This is my point, the Huskers left on an up note. They would have got that kind of a bowl bid and lost money on the deal. Better to let the kids go home and relax.

We’re definitely on the same page on this point!..

I want NU to earn a bowl bid based upon their quality of play ON the field. For 2020, the Huskers didn’t deserve a bowl bid.. Had they defeated a Covid depleted Minnesota team at home to finish 4-4 after defeating Rutgers, maybe.. But that loss pretty much 86’d any deserved bowl bid the Huskers would (or should) accept..

Let’s hope 2021 has a much higher standard of yield...

Just how many pitchers of that gooberberry flavored Husker Koolaide does a guy have to drink to believe barely beating RUTGERS is ending the season on a up note! Husker fans thinking they are above playing in garbage bowl games is like the horses refusing to sleep in the barn because they should be sleeping in the house.

Iowa against Missouri - Music City Bowl canceled

The Music City Bowl between Missouri and Iowa was canceled Sunday because COVID-19 problems left the Tigers unable to play.

Yeah this bowl season is a mess. Only confirms for me that I have no issue with a 3 and 5 Nebraska taking a pass.

Exactly. The team would have gone to a crappy bowl and even if the fans could travel, most wouldn’t. The team would end up in quarantine. Better to leave the season on a high note and let the guys be with their families.

Agreed..

Other than the 4 team Bowl Championship Playoff, I’m surprised we’re seeing any other bowls for this 2020 pandemic season..Doesn’t make any good sense :what: ...

I predict Nebraska football will never be any good again as long as Frost and Moos are in charge. Frost can recruit pretty well but he is unable to instill a winning culture into the program. Which we have all seen now for 3 years. For now the best he can do is a smoke and mirrors show and sell hope. Which unfortunately Nebraskans have no choice but to buy it, because we are stuck with him for at least one more season, and probably more. The guy can simply not coach worth a hill of beans. He will always have a record of 3-6 wins but nothing more. He did not have proven long term head coaching experience at the power 5 level when we hired him. And the Big10 is over his head.

Oh yeah we proved we did not know what we were doing when we hired Frost and we are now showing that we are a special kind of stupid by letting him hang around and continuing his destruction of the program.

No Frost can not recruit! If he could recruit he would go find a quarterback and some running backs. He can't!

It seems like people are just going to complain no matter who's in charge. The first sign of trouble, they bail. It's really sad.

Weird... I dropped my season tickets and all associated donations and was in no way forced to continue to buy them.

Honestly, they need to have 5 or so years of severely empty seats. That program needs to get a shake down and reorientation to reality. When they were in the hunt for championships every year, they could charge premium money and demand donations out the wazzoo. They aren’t there anymore.

Yeah we aren't close to empty seats yet. I've been a donor and season ticket holder since I graduated from Nebraska in 1990. I just have 2 tickets. The last couple years I've inquired about adding 2 more seats but to get four together in a decent spot has been slim pickens. Even just 2 additional seats elsewhere have not been a lot of options. They still have a strong renewal rate in Lincoln.

I saw that Rutgers is 3-0 with Vedral as the senior QB.
