There is a gas powered dirt bike (motorcycle) driving around in the park tonight on the big green lawn. Is that legal?

From the links above they posted 138’.
Should make for some great skyline photos with the bridge in the foreground.

Since they are not allowed on the bridge, I would highly doubt it.

Legal? Idk, but there seem to always be a person or two tooling around on a dirt bike when I've been down there this summer. Sometimes closer to the casino along the path, other times going back and forth north of the ped bridge.

The upcoming mayor said in this week's city council meeting that she was not a fan of this project. Anyone know why? The council was in the process of reviewing a change in the maintenance agreement and it seemed evident in a special meeting about it in November, she was trying to challenge the change in the agreement even though it seemed to clearly be a minor issue.

If thats true, she doesn't seem to be in favor of any development. Sad for CB. They could be so much, but with leadership like that, things won't materialize.

She has no clue as to what is going on. No vision, nothing. Her Facebook page is embarrassing. She has no connections to the business and professional community. A mayor needs their support.

She acknowledged this is too far gone to do anything, but it surprised me that she was against this project to begin with. Very odd to take that position when it is primarily privately funded, becomes an instant landmark for the city, and further enhances a city amenity, the CB Riverfront. Anyway, I am glad this project was already well underway before the election otherwise, she probably would have killed it like she is the streetcar and Dodge Golf Course development.

Is there any semblance of a policy platform that she supports? Everything I’ve heard about this new mayor revolves around her being against any improvements/development.

Sounds like she belongs in Valley Nebraska. They just recalled the mayor and city council president for being pro development.

Wonderful - just what we need (sarcasm). I've always wondered why CB has really struggled to grow all things considered but the layout of the city is a complete mess (at least IMO) and with leadership like this, I guess I'm not really surprised that it's growth is stagnate compared to other nearby areas of the metro.

To be fair to the new mayor, here is an article highlighting some of her stances with additional videos of her interview with apparently more specifics (I did not watch them). What I gather from a quick glance, she ran on supporting unions, reaching out to voters personally, promising to make communicating with government easier, fighting against and killing the golf course development and streetcar extension, and addressing homelessness.

How Jill Shudak beat the odds in Council Bluffs mayoral race

PS. After thinking about some of the statements made in this article, I am really peeved about her position regarding the golf course and streetcar. Really misinformation was used to paint these topics in her favor. Like the Omaha streetcar is a 'disaster'? Is it really? Sure it's been delayed, as many major construction projects are, and yeah businesses are struggling or shuttered along the route due to construction, but not every business has closed and we do not how the closed businesses were doing to begin with.

In regards to her 'winning' the union vote and on the topic of homelessness, I have issues with that as well. Wouldn't unions want projects like the streetcar and the biggest commercial development in CB ever at the Golf Course? Don't these project create jobs for unions and possibly people currently without work? Why attack the 3,000 apartment projects built by the previous mayor or currently in progress if she wants to address homelessness? She paints apartment buildings in a bad way while saying they should build more owner occupied homes when talking about homelessness. So, how is one better than the other when CB and all American cities need more housing? She seems to not want to create jobs or opportunities, but merely treat the symptom. OK, I am done, I was just fuming thinking about these positions and how she is going to be good for CB. I hope she is better than what I am anticipating, but I see the next four years as a stunt to the growth CB has had. Mayor Walsh was not perfect, but at least there was some vision particularly from his Chief of Staff, Brandon Garrett.

personally, from what I gather from friends involved in the civic arena of CB, she's not all that great. Walsh wasn't great either, but I'd have rather had him over her. Her campaign didn't seem to have much actual substance, and there were times she simply resorted to down talking her opponents vs running a clear campaign.

Yeah, its interesting that large walkway to the north and this pier to the south, which is way larger than I was thinking it would be.

wow...that's actually pretty remarkable. I think that'd be a humongous win for CB and the area. It's a nice looking building and it isn't anything I had ever thought of going in there. Maybe Murillo will be able to finally say she did something right (before she packs off to Independence, MO)

MidAmerican Energy Adventure Tower, at 138 feet tall, is definitely going to be a welcome addition to the skyline. Omaha was supposed to get a 600-foot-tall observation tower known as Vortex Tower until it was canceled. It looked nice, but I think it's best to put the observation tower in Council Bluffs to show the city what actual development looks like.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KMTV) — The $60 million riverfront development project in Council Bluffs will have a ribbon cutting in May and more construction is planned. City council members were briefed on Phase 5 of the development at Monday's council study session.

I haven't been over there in a while, but the second camera down on this page has a live view:

https://www.3newsnow.com/weather/weather-cams

Not sure what its like on a mobile version, but on the desktop version you can make the camera full screen and zoom in so you get an ok view of it. I'm viewing it on a 27" 4k monitor.

thanks i appreciate that! i tried it on mobile, wouldn’t let me zoom on much at all, even in full screen. couldn’t see too much, but will try it out on desktop if i remember. im honestly just really excited to see the finished product. the renderings weren’t the best imo. does anyone have a map layout of the treetop walk and climbing by any chance?
