The 2nd row of row houses to the north was going up today also a lot of site work in the Pinhook lot in back.
This nice weather has been great for construction around the city.

Broadmoor to Build Condos
I currently live in a Broadmoor apartment complex; former maintenance man who sometimes comes over told me that they were planning on building condos over at Aksarben. Now I'm wondering if this is true. I thought he was "in the know." And I plan on going to look there.
Anybody heard anything about this??

They are supposed to face 64th and hide the parking garage I think.

As far as I know this is the only condo project currently on the way. I by no means have any inside info though.annie wrote:iamjacobm wrote:

Thanks for posting the link, Jacob. I noticed signs are up on the land while I was back a few weeks ago and meant to check into it.
This will be another great addition to AK Village. It seems to have a decent street-level presence, and I love that it includes "flex" space and live-work spaces on the ground floor.
I can't say I'm a fan of the concrete slab architectural touches, however. In any event, I'm happy to see more infill.

Good to know. I was just saying that I had seen them while I was back in December.

I believe the signs also say Fall 2013 so I am still fairly confident that construction should start sometime this year.Brad wrote:The signs have been up since August.
Aksarben Village really testes my patience. I want to experience the finished product really badly, but it may be another half decade before that happens.

Considering the time scale that most infill of that magnitude takes, that's pretty quick! I'd be ecstatic if my neighborhood was redeveloped to that degree in 5 years!iamjacobm wrote: Aksarben Village really testes my patience. I know that Microsoft is experimenting with retail stores. Maybe there's one going in at Aksarben? If so, it would be pretty convenient to be able to pick up a copy of Windows Server 2008 after seeing a movie at the Cinema.

Perhaps Microsoft is moving its local office from First National Business Park to the AkSarben area.

I took a peek in the Microsoft office/store tonight and it definitely looks like an office rather than a retail store. No computers on display and the design is definitely non-retail.
There are casual tables at the front with Microsoft training books on them, there's what looks like a small coffee bar facing the Frances St. (north) side and then another room further east, also facing Frances St., with several cubicles.
As you look in the front window facing 67th St., there's what looks like a decent-sized conference room toward the back.
I took some cell phone photos of the office, but was not able to upload them here :x...I'm sure someone will post some before long.

According to Jeff and Trenton on Grow Omaha, its a sales office with about 20 employees. They were in the Valmont building but the wanted better visibility and the option of having a sign.ShawJ wrote:I was wondering the same.JPenny wrote:I'm pretty sure I saw that the building to the east of the movie theater has Microsoft signage on it now. I think that looks pretty sharp! It's very contemporary, but I think that architecture will age well.

I agree. That whole back block would be rather boring if it all looked like Broadmoor though. This will look nice w/o the pitched roof, something they should of thought about during the first phase of Pinhook.Seth wrote:I think that looks pretty sharp! And these make a nice transition to the college campus from the more "traditional" looking apartments closer to Center.

Tons of work on the residential. The row houses are taking getting ascetic work as well as two of the three apartment buildings are topped out.
This is going to add a whole lot of people in one general timeframe.
Edit: Also the space below Pinhook I was taken by SkyVu and they have signage up now.
