Good lord!
I keep our thermostat set around 74-75 in summer and 68 in the colder months. This year our A/C ran at least occasionally until about mid October, when we finally flipped things over to heat. The only time I ever recall running our A/C in November was years ago when we were still hosting very large Thanksgiving dinners and between all the cooking and 15+ people it got downright hot in the house. Other than that, it has never been run after mid October.

Believe me, it definitely feels weird. 75 and sunny on November 14th is 75 and sunny on November 14th, so if I didn't have the AC on, it would probably get up to 82 (?) In here. Im not the only one in the neighborhood still running the AC. I'm all about energy conservation, I just do it all in the winter. Kinda surprised myself. It was perfect like a week or so ago.

Whereas it sounds like you winter in Mexico, if I had the means, I would TOTALLY do the opposite and summer in Canada or Alaska. Oh the dream...

I personally think the last few days have been perfect. Nice and mild with no humidity. Today was amazing and I took the day off to enjoy it.

It felt good outside for sure, I'm just not a fan of out of place warmth. I got home from work and took all but my draws off and sat on the back porch, cracked open a beer, and was perfectly comfortable. In mid November? That's crazy. At least it was dark. Nobody saw me haha.

Our next door neighbor is from Ottawa, but maintains a cabin near the St. Lawrence River in Quebec. He purchased his condo in PV during Covid, and generally spends the winters there, when he isn’t globe trotting. But he spends about 4 or 5 months mid year at his cabin in the Quebec forests. I can ask if he has a second bedroom.

It'll be interesting to see when I click the heater on. I haven't done it yet, and I don't feel inclined to any time in the foreseeable future. My family (does anybody else do this?) always has a seasonal competition as to who can hold out the longest either turning the AC or heater on. I fold pretty easy on the AC one, but I always win the heater one.

I almost the exact same as you. I hear my neighbors ac running all the time from March-December sometimes. I would hate to see their bill. No reason to run it when it’s in the 50’s

No reason to run it when it’s in the 50’s

Totally agree, if the high was in the 50's, which is what its supposed to be as of now. Wasn't the case today.

We had dinner at an Omaha restaurant last night and they were running the A/C in the dining room. As we were in shorts and short sleeve shirts it wasn’t appreciated!

Even in the summer there are places that blast the AC to where you are freezing wearing shorts. Which I find ridiculous coming from being hot outside.

I think that happens because the staff is working so hard and don’t realize how different it is for the people sitting in the seats.

Quite nice localized downpours. A couple lightning strikes darn near popped me out of my seat. It's been a while. Pretty goofy in mid November.

We got a little small hail too, which I was hoping would knock the remaining leaves off my trees... We also got a 1/2 inch of rain which is awesome. My lawn was still really green but I could tell it was dry. Should look great after I mow later this week.

I was surprised by the thunderstorm. A good amount of rain but no severe weather.

Yes it was a real heavy overflow the gutters type of downpour in my neighborhood, and took me by surprise. The 6 pm newscast mentioned the possibility of thunder that evening, but this was like a mid summer deluge with lots of rain, lightning and thunder. My poor neighbor got caught in it while walking her elderly dogs. They walk slowly so they were all drenched by the time they walked past my house.

After this weekend, it looks like things take a turn. That might be it. I have always traditionally expected Thanksgiving to be cold, so I love that feeling of cooking all the stuff and having the cold air outside keeping the house from getting too hot. The recent warmth had me a little iffy on that. Just a nice cozy feeling.

Potential continues to increase that we'll see our first accumulating snow event late this week and/or into this weekend. Still plenty of uncertainty and it'll depend on exact track to what extent we get hit...but odds continue to increase that we'll get at least some snow (though odds are higher for heavier snow totals just east of us currently).

I worked out in the lawn for about 7 hours yesterday and when I got done, I walked in to the house and told my wife "I'm done, Let it snow"... LOL

I think things will be fine for the game on Friday albeit a bit on the chilly side with temps around 30. Most of the snow will hold off until at least Friday evening/overnight and probably more likely on Saturday now for our area...

Really windy out today, with gust up to 45mph. Way up north in Minnesota and northern Wisconsin they are expecting a pretty big snowstorm tonight and tomorrow upwards of a foot or more of snow.

I got the last of my yard work done over the weekend when it was 65 degrees and sunny. Today I hauled the last of my tropical and other expensive potted plants indoors before the mercury craters.
Tomorrow we head to South Florida for 10 days. I would say I have good timing!
I still have two garden tomatoes left to consume before we leave town. It’s nice to still be eating fruit from our garden on Thanksgiving week.

The latest 12z ECMWF is concerning - it shows our area getting hit fairly hard by this storm now with most places in and around Omaha in the 6" to 8" of snow range with at least some wind...mostly falling on Saturday. Ultimately this would probably mean more like 4"-6" of snow in the locally area with a few places higher than that.

Wouldn't be shocked to see winter storm watches issued soon - especially for areas along and east of the Missouri River but possible including areas of eastern NE too.

Of course this is just one model run on one single model so we'll see if this trend continues on future updates.

I finally give in. What with it 25 outside, 59 inside, and no sign of there being any warmth upcoming, I caved and clicked on the heat for the first time. I'll have to say it was pretty late in the year I actually felt cold enough to do so.

My heat has been on for a while now and it's set to 74. And been running my fireplace to where my family room periodically gets up to 77 from it.

I'm sweatin haha. I go back to my moms house sometimes, like I did today. I always walk there, its like two miles, lots of hills in between, got there just by dark, and it wasn't notably cold outside to me. Between having on my coat and walking, I didn't give it a second thought. I walked in and it was a blast furnace, took off my coat and sat back outside for a few minutes

I'll stay with her til after the game tomorrow, and I'm certain I'll be be spitting a totally different story. From the sound of it, I should have thought about it and preemptively worn my boots for the walk back.

Game will be over around 2-3 and thats when the NWS calls things to start getting kinda sketchy.

Based on the latest HRRR, I still believe Omaha has a chance to get 6 inches of snow - maybe up to 8 or 9 (especially just barely north and east of Omaha). Depends on if things mix with sleet/freezing rain and if so, for how long. Going to be rough tonight and tomorrow regardless. Most likely it’ll end up in the 5 or 6 inches of snow range though.

Actually based on the 12z HRRR, 6"-8" (possibly more) is becoming increasingly likely in Omaha with this run depicting almost all snow in the area (so no mix at all). If this happens, things are going to get bad relatively fast with the depicted wind on top of it. Guess we'll see...

Maybe a few slick spots anyway - models showing the snow really not becoming heavy until around or after midnight as the snow should really starts blowing up/becoming more widespread west of Lincoln and into central NE later today/tonight before gradually developing on top of use and eventually pushing our way with the heavy stuff. But we'll see how things actually play out of course.
