The research tower is pretty close to complete. Vertical expansion of the adjacent building is taking place now.

Nearing completion. This is really impressive when you see it. Based on how it sits, looks much taller than it is. Not sure if you call it Southeast downtown, or Crown Center area but when you see it from other parts it really stands out.

Here is some of the finish photography of the tower. Children's is now partnered with KU Med on their Cancer Research efforts. I think we will see more buildings at TSMC/Childrens in not long.

The renderings set to be released soon look similar to the KU Med project over in that thread. Very modern design

Children's Mercy is pursuing a pretty aggressive expansion project with much of the work expected over the next 5 years.

Massive new parking garage is already under construction


10 year master plan

Phase one: Add a five-story patient building above the existing emergency parking lot west of Holmes Road and a three-story vertical expansion above an existing ambulance canopy (in six to 24 months)
Phase two: Demolish two- and six-story campus buildings near the entrance off Gillham and Locust Street for a 20-story patient tower (in 18 to 72 months)
Phase three: Demolish a three-story building adjacent to the future tower for a 10-story hospital building (in 36 to 60 months)
Phase four: Demolish a one-story building northwest of Holmes Road and 22nd Street for a 10-story medical office building (in 60 to 96 months)
Phase five: Demolish one- and five-story buildings northwest of Holmes and 23rd Street for a nine-story administrative office building (in 60 to 84 months)
Phase six: Demolish a three-story building southwest of Holmes and 23rd for an eight-story medical office building (in 96 to 120 months)
Phase seven: Add a five-story administrative office building with first-floor community space east of Hospital Hill Park (in 96 to 120 months)
Undetermined phases: Future eight- and 10-story buildings above existing parking garages north of 22nd Street

The Children's Mercy master plan would add a total 1,120 new parking spaces. With its submission, the hospital system requests vacation of some public right-of-way, including to make 23rd Street a private drive between Holmes and Gillham. It also asks for no building height restrictions or setback requirements within the plan area, and for a waiver of special use permit requirements for hospital uses under its desired "downtown core" rezoning.

The newest tower added so much to the KC skyline, and looks fantastic at night. Will be awesome when these are done. With all of this on the hill, they hit above their actual height.

Plus this brings thousands more downtown and builds on the streetcars momentum.

$1bn+ 20 floor tower expected to break ground this fall. Should look taller than the Crown Center Sheraton given its placement on the hill.

Looks like a beautiful building. With it sitting on a hill it should show up well against the other buildings.
