Platte River Bridge Trail

Scope of Work

This project will include:

A 10-foot-wide trail north and south of the bridge
A 12-foot-wide paved trail on the east side of the bridge
New trail abutments on the north and south sides of the Platte River
A new culvert extension and grate inlets
A new railing and covered observation decks on the east side
Fencing between the trail and US-34/75
Construction of a new sediment basin to replace the existing one
Scheduled to start construction in Summer 2022.

Long overdue! That said, wish it was on the west side for Railroad Photography...

Will this replace the bridge by South Bend?

Since they just did all that work to restore it I think it is here to stay.

What trails is this going to connect to? Will it connect to the trail that isn't too far north of this? Is Plattsmouth going to extend the trail into town?

Seems weird they would construct the trail over the river without at a minimum a connection to the Bellevue Loop Trail to the north right away.

I am not exactly sure, but as you mentioned, Falconwood Park is just north of the Platte and then the Bellevue Loop trail is only about a mile north of that. So I could see it getting some use. It would be nice to see the trail extend into Plattsmouth.
