When the City of Omaha condemned Legacy Crossing on Monday, another local apartment complex stood out: Fireside Village in Ralston. Like Legacy Crossing, it's listed on the website of investment firm VCM Global Asset Management. The same goes for the property management company: Avantic Residential. And as Ralston City Administrator Rick Hoppe says: It's been a problem for Ralston like Legacy Crossing was for Omaha.

Wildewood Commons, formerly called Fireside Village Apartments is under new ownership. The City of Ralston said it was at risk of being condemned but now it's working with the new owners to secure TIF funding to improve living conditions.

Troubled apartments with absent management see turn around in Ralston, city says



RALSTON, Neb. (KMTV) — A resident at what was known as Fireside Village Apartments in Ralston described the conditions there to 3 News Now. "They haven't come and maintained anything that I've made complaints on," said a resident who didn't want to be named. Their dishwasher had been broken since they moved in. "I've had standing water in my dishwasher for the last year," they said.
