I've heard this rumor from several places, so must have some legs under it...

Children's museum moving downtown / riverfront somewhere. Where is there a lot big enough on the riverfront? North of the skate ribbon?. South of Brickline?

Not only is that an exciting for more growth downtown, but also frees up a nice sized lot on the west side of downtown for additional development (likely residential?).

A email went out to members and supporters this afternoon saying a big announcement on this coming tomorrow morning at 10:30am. Mayor Stothert and other dignitaries will be on hand, and they’re live streaming the video on their Facebook page which makes me feel like it’s more than just an announcement of a capital campaign. Sounds more like a construction announcement to me. We’ll know for sure in the morning I guess ;)

It would be neat to tie in a new Children's Museum to the GLM. Maybe a mid-rise on that block between GLM and the MOO tower where the Children's Museum would occupy the bottom few floors with a signature pedestrian bridge connection between the second floor and the GLM over 13th Street. Even cooler if it was integrated on the banks of HOAP

I'll definitely be tuning in as well.

Wow, image in link also shows a parking garage a high rise of some sort and the working, finished street car! All in what I think is the last undeveloped area within the footprint of the riverfront parks area. That space around the elevated freeways has always been an eyesore. Great find.

If all goes as planned and funding is secured, Omaha Children’s Museum would transition to its new home in late 2027. It will continue to operate at 20th and Howard streets until then.

Thinking this is on that thin strip of land south of 480 and north of Heartland of America Park unless I have my bearings wrong.

Anywhere in this area is a slam dunk though, going family friendly by the river is looking like a great move for the city and a 15 story building will look great down here.

All I can say is that you guys are all amazing!!! Great investigative work.

This is something that we all talked about when the downtown parks were first getting redeveloped. We all stated that moving the children's museum to the riverfront would be a home run.

Now between this probably being announced today, the apt tower and the soccer stadium being built just down Riverfront Dr along with the streetcar stops and maintenance facility. This area is really going to be night and day different than when it was just Rick's on the riverfront. Love all of it!!!

That’s what I was thinking as well. It’ll be interesting to see more renderings and how the residential tower fits into that lot. From these early pics the building looks to be square and the lot is definitely not that.

This would align with the Masterplan’s vision of having a residential tower directly south of 480. This residential tower would also be right next to a future streetcar line into Council Bluffs.

The streetcar maintenance building is actually underneath the interstates, if I'm not mistaken.

The latest I’ve seen is the maintenance building at 8th and Capital Ave city owned land.

Only thing I think would've put this over the top is a bit of ground-level retail on the bottom of the apartment building....there will be so many people walking between this area and LCL. Would love to start to see some restaurants and shopping around the park. Hopefully there is a café in the museum.

Based on my calculations, "The Beam" should just above 200 feet tall!
