So if Omaha, NE experiences the same growth in the 2020s as it did in the 2010s (about 20%), then Omaha's population in 2030 would be around 580,000.
I'd really like to hear some other predictions!

Re: Omaha 2030 Census Predictions
Omaha's growth points have always been from births, which are slowing down nationwide, migration from elsewhere in Nebraska, and international migration, which has also slowed down.

By no stretch do I think your estimate is unrealistic. Just what a side slow-down that would be.Garrett wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2024 10:32 am Omaha's growth points have always been from births, which are slowing down nationwide, migration from elsewhere in Nebraska, and international migration, which has also slowed down.

Re: Omaha 2030 Census Predictions
I'm going to guess 560,000ish. Birth rates are slowing, but immigration has increased under the Biden administration (a good thing, don't @ me ;) ). Also, serious housing shortages in other major cities is making Omaha a much more attractive city for settling, especially as employers gradually shift to hybrid or fully remote settings. We also have a housing shortage, but property is still significantly cheaper than other major cities. You can buy a pretty nice house for 250,000, sometimes cheaper. Also, there's a ton of really great positive momentum in Omaha development. Lots of new projects, the streetcar, new districts popping up left and right, etc.
I'm optimistic!
