In the last couple of years (especially), I've noticed an increase in overly aggressive a-hole drivers in the Omaha area.
On my way home from Fathers Day with the family yesterday evening, as I exited I-29 on to I-680 heading toward the Mormon Bridge, a ~15 year old goldish colored F-150 (I believe) driven by a 60-something year old guy got RIGHT up on my back bumper (literally couldn't get closer without hitting me). I had a car in front of me so I couldn't get out of his way so I lightly tapped my breaks trying to get the guy to back off or to at least indicate he was too close - which of course he did briefly before getting right back up on my back bumper.
Eventually I had a chance to get out of his way which I did. As the guy attempted to pass me he apparently took exception to me "brake checking" him and to my surprise he attempted to run me off the road for doing so. To clarify, he literally took his truck and briefly swerved to the left (to in essence "wind up") and then sharply cranked his steering wheel to the right in an attempt to "scare" me off the road and in doing so forced me up on to the shoulder of the interstate (going ~70 mph).
I couldn't call the cops as he had either painted over his license plate number (or it was so dirty it couldn't be seen) but either way the numbers were completely illegible.
But what the heck is wrong with people though??? Why would risking someone's life be necessary because you didn't like the fact you had to wait and that they brake-checked you for being insanely too close??

Re: Road Rage
In today's world, there is no way I am driving without a dash cam—both front and rear view.
I started with a front view only a few years ago. I have converted to front and rear views ( with a camera in the back window, not in the passenger area) now, and the oldest of these is two years old and working great. I have the same setup in all three vehicles. I have wired them into the fuse box, so there are no cords to deal with. All the installations I have done myself and no wiring is exposed except where it pigtails out to the cameras.

Re: Road Rage
I surprisingly haven't had any aggressive incidents for a good long while. Most of the time nowadays, I notice there's a lot of Sunday drivers, people looking down, taking way too much time to get off the line, or people otherwise appearing to be scared to be driving. Oh and yeah, the prideful anti zipper merge people. Only a few weeks ago when 72nd was a mess, I had no choice but to use the short lane, and well, I wasn't going to be a sitting duck while 40 cars passed me, so I edged in and I got the bird. Oh well. So I guess in a lot of cases, I appear to be the aggressor. I'm just trying to be efficient.

Dash cam I use and the oldest one of these will soon be two years old with no issues. I got it at Sam as this kit, but it can be gotten elsewhere, too.

Here is the kit I have used to wire it in so I do not have it fed from a cigarette lighter plug.

I have the Vantrue N4 Pro and have been very happy with it. It even connects to my phone! Currently on sale for $299 ($379 regularly).

Thanks for the tips about the dash cams. I have one but just didn't have it hooked up (I never switched it over when I purchased a new vehicle - probably should do that
)

Re: Road Rage
On the Detroit freeways there is a shooting at least once a week related to road rage. I've never been shot at but a few times I did have someone try to run me off the road. I did get sideswiped in Chicago a couple of years ago. Did about $5000 worth of damage & just drove off. Happy times
