Here’s A Rosenblatt Stadium What-If…

Post by mrsticka »

What if Rosenblatt Stadium was built downtown instead of across the street from the zoo? Would that have been better? And where do you suppose it would have gone? The same location as Charles Schwab Field is in now?

At the time the Blatt was first built, the dynamics were so different that a DT location consideration would have been entirely different than where things were built in the last 20 years.

Not sure that I can even compute this, What If

It wouldn’t have been where Schwab is now, since the area had the UP Shops. If it had to be downtown, I would guess directly adjacent to 1950s Creighton boundaries.

Just think of the flat areas big enough. I agree, it definitely wouldn't have been where the ballpark is now. I'll add, even if Rosenblatt was originally built downtown in 1948, it almost certainly would have been replaced, as it was. It wasnt exactly Fenway Park.

But I agree, somewhere around Creighton sounds fitting. Anywhere flat. Seems like limited options. Also maybe at the crest of the hill around 20th and Douglas or 24th and Dodge.

Maybe they would have been really forward thinking as an option and built in Papillion where Warner sits!

About the time the decision for the ballpark was being made, I though I heard a newscast that Rosenblatt was nearing deck replacement. I think that would be expensive and take time. And who knows what else would be found.
