Nebraska Volleyball 2026

Post by nebugeater »

Hadn't seen this posted here yet.

When Creighton takes on the Huskers this fall, they will be playing at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Don't think the date has been set yet.

https://www.hastingstribune.com/husker_ ... 79413.html

LINCOLN — For the second consecutive year, Nebraska volleyball will play a match at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers, coming off of an Elite Eight run before losing to eventual national champions Texas A&M, will host Creighton at The Vault this fall, according to head coach Dani Busboom Kelly, who announced the news during an interview on Wednesday with a select group of reporters. The date and time for the game is not known yet.

Nebraska opened last season at Pinnacle Bank Arena, winning matches against Pittsburgh and Stanford in the AVCA First Serve Showcase, marking the first time the program played in the basketball arena, which drew over 15,500 fans for both matches.

Another great addition to the 2026 VB schedule.

The Huskers will play Texas this fall. No date or location announced yet, so I am going to speculate that this could be some sort of major event rather than a match on one of the home courts, but who knows. Busboom did say when she hinted at this that it would not be in Nebraska

At this point, I think it is all a guessing game. I have seen Vegas and Dallas mentioned a couple of times. Be interesting to see where it lands. Also wonder if it will be just these two or part of a multi-game event line Wrigly

DePaul University will host Nebraska volleyball at Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Friday, September 4, 2026. This historic match marks the first-ever volleyball game at the arena and the first matchup between the two programs in over four decades. The event is part of a Chicago weekend that includes Nebraska playing at Wrigley Field on Sept. 6.

Spikes Under the Lights

Husker Volleyball will participate in the inaugural event at AT&T Stadium

Four premier women’s college volleyball programs will compete on Aug. 27 at AT&T Stadium in a nationally televised exhibition with a $1 million prize purse, the largest ever in women’s college sports.

Nebraska, Penn State, Florida and SMU are set to headline the first-of-its-kind, three-hour primetime event, named Spikes Under the Lights. Two semifinal matches and a championship will be played in a best-of-three-set format at the 100,000-seat home of the Dallas Cowboys. Standard college matches are contested as best of five. Results will not count toward the teams’ regular-season records.

That's cool - so if they win prize money with NIL in place, do the players actually receive a portion, or is it still awarded directly to the school/program? I know schools get paid for bowl games which goes to the university. Wasn't sure if the way these payouts work has changed since NIL.

As I understand it is somewhat dependent on the school. As far as Nebraska goes, there is a precedent set. When the Men's Basketball team played in the Crown tourney a year + ago, it was paid with funds to NIL. It was divided equally among the players, if my memory of that is correct.

That's right. I think the players voted to give out the shares equally, including those that didn't get to play got a the full share.

Here is the first story I found on this

There is also 1 million of NIL money tied to this event

https://www.ketv.com/article/nebraska-v ... s/71253085

I love this fact

T-Mobile Arena has a capacity of 18,000 and can be expanded to 20,000 with standing-room tickets. It is home to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, which means the Huskers will play in venues that are the primary homes of NFL, NHL and MLB teams this fall.

The event site directs you to SeetGeek for tickets, so they must be the official ticket outlet

https://attstadium.com/events/spikes-under-the-lights/
#1
When you go to SeatGeek and search for a quantity of two, they range from $12 each to $314, except for those listed as courtside, which are a lot higher.

Looks like you can get center court in rows 15 - 20 for about $75 each with a good number of options

Looks like nothing in the upper bowl is available, so I'm guessing that these were never an option

https://seatgeek.com/ncaa-womens-volley ... quantity=2

Nebraska just beat SMU in the final match to win the inaugural Spikes Under the Lights.

Looked like a packed house and a sea of red, at least for the championship anyway. People were in the lower bowl, suites level seating and temporary seating around the court. Nobody in the upper bowl.

One thing that stood out to me was how far away most of the fans were from the action. Except for those in the termporary seats next to the court, I think that almost everyone in the stadium had to watch it on the big screen.

I am sure it was due to hopeful record ticket sales but in Dallas it would have been better to have the court in an endzone where three sides could have been much closer to the action and the temple bleachers going higher up on the open field side

Was just crazy watching the Husker volleyball team the past few days. Thursday, TNT really favored Nebraska in how much more time they talked about NU vs amount of time for their opponents. At times it almost seemed like a recruiting video. Then FOX over the weekend said hold my beer. Saturday before the match they showed a full BTN feature that was done a while ago on how Nebraska takes their spring game on the road to smaller towns through out the state. Then later, they showed a large part of the BTN special on the volleyball day in Nebraska with the game at Memorial Stadium. They continued to talk much more about Nebraska than Texas during their game on Sunday as well.

Also it's crazy how all the celebrities are starting to show up at our road games. Never seen anything like it for a Nebraska based team.

I hate to admit, but as a non Husker fan, they are fun to watch. My coworker who turned me on to all this kinda has me hooked. On Sunday, against #2 Texas, they didn’t even look like they were breaking a sweat.
