These "Guiding Principles" for the new Omaha Comprehensive Plan were submitted to the planning board for approval this month. Not a lot to go on yet, but it says the plan will be released in early 2027.

Got an email about a "Future Lab" being launched by the We Make Omaha team as part of the development of this new Comprehensive Plan. Apparently it'll be an interactive exhibit at Aksarben showing 4 possible development futures for Omaha and have space for feedback afterwards.

Thanks for the reminder. I filled out the online form.
Not a fan of them trying to put all the eggs in one scenario. In the end, I think one will be a leading scenario but will have crossover elements from the others. For example, Neighborhood hubs is the only one that listed middle housing. Connected corridors said mixed use along transit line, but nothing changes for housing between corridors. Why would they leave that unchanged? We could be building middle housing as infill between the transit corridors. Many of the transit lines naturally go through the popular business districts. These neighborhood hot spots will get a boost just with better access to transit.
