2026 Nebraska State Fair

Final #'s came in for this years state fair - 306,351. 


For Comparison Sake, here are the last few years.
2025: 334,383
2024: 314,844
2023: 311,909
2022: 287,347
2021: 266,245

This was the first year rain hadn't been an issue in a while. Temps were pretty warm actually. I went out a couple times. The new paved parking lot was nice and helped. I was surprised #s were down. It sure seemed pretty busy both times I attended.

A friend of mine who's a reporter spent the duration at the fair. He said there were a few days that were pretty brutal and the biggest hit was probably on the "Older Nebraskan Day", which was way down, due to the heat.
I live down in Kansas now and the the Kansas State Fair starts Friday 9/11 in Hutchinson. Temps have been in the 100-106 range for the last two weeks and it's finally breaking now. Low 90's through the weekend, 100 again on Monday and then a welcome string of 80's for the rest of the fair.

Here's the problem with the fair: Kids used to go back to school the day after labor day.

Now the fair is smack dab in the middle of the school schedule and families can't attend because fall sports, football, etc has now started.

They also can't move it up because it is now in the middle of county fair and festival season.

There is also a limited number of midways to come in for this type of event and they are likly booked in years in advance and not able to shift
