A friend says the old Dixie Quick's on Leavenworth is going to become a Shucks. Makes sense to me, since the Absolutely Fresh mothership is right down the street.

That would be cool. It was sad to see a good business leave Leavenworth Street.

Shucks opening new location downtown

http://www.omaha.com/article/20111209/G ... n-downtown
Sarah Baker Hansen, Omaha World-Herald wrote:A new location of Shucks Fish House is taking over the old Dixie Quicks space at 20th and Leavenworth Streets.
Absolutely Fresh Seafood owner Greg Lindberg said he hopes to open the new restaurant by Feb. 1. It will take over all three bays that had been Dixie Quicks.
"We're not spending much money on the interior, but it will look completely different," Lindberg said.
He said they've knocked down walls to make the space more open. They'll also be installing some reclaimed barn wood in the space to make it look and feel similar to the other two Shucks locations — one off 119th and Pacific Streets and one in the Shops of Legacy near 169th Street and West Center Road. The restaurant also will have a bar.

Aw shucks!

Actually, this is good news. Glad to hear about existing buildings being reused along Leavenworth, instead of bulldozed!
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.

Nice! Much better chance I will go now that there is an alternative to driving all the way out to 168th and Center.

Shucks has opened a new location in the old Dixie Quicks spot at 19th and Leavenworth. I love their food.

Shucks to Serve Brunch

http://www.omaha.com/article/20120314/N ... rve-brunch
Sarah Baker Hansen WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:Starting this weekend, Shucks will serve brunch, just like Dixie Quicks used to in the same location. Dixie Quicks moved to Council Bluffs last fall.

The new menu will include staples from Bailey’s, also owned by the Absolutely Fresh group, a popular west Omaha breakfast spot. Look for things like eggs benedict, omelets, waffles and Shucks’ signature coffee cake.

We had brunch there today (Sunday). They were fairly busy, but not packed. There is little resemblance to the old Dixie Quicks. The food was good and the service friendly, if not particularly fast. It sort of resembles the 119th St. Shucks, but is nicer.

Shucks has an outdoor patio in the back? It has to be enclosed, or else you just get a great look at the trains...

For you, sir, it may be "just a great look at the trains" but for some of us, that would be a big bonus.

I guess we don't have a Pacific St Shucks/ Absolutely Fresh Seafood thread:
Next Sunday, July 27th, come help us celebrate Absolutely Fresh Seafood's 35 anniversary. The party will be from 3-8 in the parking lot of Shucks Fish House and Oyster Bar, 119th and Pacific. Da Crabby Blues Band will be playing starting at 4:00 followed by Blue House with the Rent To Own Horns. Of course, along with the music, there will be food, drinks and lots of fun.

Just recently Chicks in Charge decided to rezone SW 19th & Leavenworth, from DS to CBD. Not saying anything, but I have to wonder if Shucks is involved with this.

Well, they seem to own all of 19th & Leavenworth from the old Club Vibe to Shucks, all of which are up for sale. Chicks in Charge

Am I confused or are you implying that downtown Shucks is leaving?

New dry bar set to open in downtown

For people wanting to have the bar-going experience without the booze, new dry bar Dry Spokes is looking to cater to the sober.

A good addition to community offerings. But, it was confusing to post about Dry Spokes under the Shucks subject. My first thought was that Dry Spokes was replacing Shucks. The wording above didn't clarify this, nor did the KETV story until the very last sentence. (They're neighbors.)
