Sounds cool for them but last time I checked doesn't the World Cup select location based off of countries and not cities? If it s location for an event that is still cool.

Specific cities are selected to host games (5-7 of them each). KC is a finalist to be a host city. A final decision will be made in 2021.

KC officials met virtually with FIFA and US Soccer last week. FIFA officials now plan to visit Kansas City sometime in early 2021.

KC official met with FIFA again last month to provide additional information and updates on KC. I am sure that Streetcar expansion is a big discussion point.

I'd say KC has a pretty decent shot given it's the only one in the region.

KC hosting CONCAF Gold Cup this summer. Canada, US, and Martinique will be based here. USA was placed in KC in an attempt to give them a better chance at winning. (KC is home to some of the top training facilities in US). These games will take place around the same time FIFA tours the city.
