Omaha Annexation Plans 2021

Post by OmahaFan »

So it’s that time of year again and I’m hoping that this years Annexing is bigger then last years. Gotta be time for Bennington or at least Waterloo.

Omaha really should skip Douglas Co west of the Elkhorn river. Lots of flood issues and the tax base just isn’t there to cover that. Would love to see a more aggressive move to fill in the gaps around the edges.

Any specific edges to fill?

I doubt either are on the agenda for another ~5 years at least.

There are a lot of small sections that have been annexed around and I would like to see that filled in.

I've lived in a SID since 1998, 4 years in Sarpy, and the last 19 in Bridlewood. Am I wrong to want to be part of a city? Haven't voted for a mayor this century! Starting to get a complex; what's wrong with us?

If a SID in the county has a high debt load, the city will usually wait to annex until those bonds are paid down enough.

Mayor Stothert put out a press release today on 2021 Annexation:
