St. Pete looking to Redevelop Tropicana field area.

Post by Uffda »

Today’s paper had a an article about 4 different groups and their plans to redevelop the area where Tropicana Field is now. As people are nt sure the Rays are going to be staying a stadium is mentioned in a couple of the plans.

How St. Petersburg’s Tropicana Field pitches stack up on parks, homes, history

All of the proposals address the requirements the city laid out in its solicitation for bids last year. All imagine homes, offices, tourism, education and retail coexisting. All leave space for a ballpark should the Tampa Bay Rays ultimately want to develop another stadium on the site, while making accommodations for parkland, revitalizing Booker Creek, incorporating the site’s racial history and providing for sustainability and arts and culture.

That stadium obviously is one of the worst in baseball. Oakland’s is worse. In addition to a bad stadium, hasn’t the site also been an issue?

A dome in Florida just seems odd. I'm sure it had to do with avoiding rain delays. But if they rebuild, hopefully they work in a sliding roof setup.

I read in one article that the two interstate extensions into the neighborhood split it apart like N 75 did in Omaha.
