And that huge-azz white elephant World Headquarters out in Gretna that never reached anywhere near full occupancy as far as I can tell. How much in tax deferrals did that cost Gretna/Sarpy?

When the state turns off your traffic light, you know you've got problems.

Probably not much since it’s in Douglas County.

Quotes from the story:

South Florida will be home to a new technology headquarters by the end of the year.

ACI Worldwide Corp. signed a lease for a new office space in the region last month after Miami-Dade County approved the digital payments firm for a $360,000 economic incentive deal. The county awarded the funds to persuade ACI Worldwide (Nasdaq: ACIW) to move its home base from Naples to the Miami area and create hundreds of high-paying jobs in the process.

Omaha, Nebraska was another location under consideration for the company's new headquarters. ACI Worldwide was founded in Omaha as "Applied Communications Inc." in 1975 and maintains an executive office in the city.

Moving the headquarters to Miami is pricier than Nebraska due to higher labor costs, sales taxes, real estate taxes, lease prices and more, the incentive application said. Despite the cost disadvantages, ACI Worldwide said expanding its Miami-Dade footprint presents a "significant value proposition" because of the region's larger labor pool, existing executive and technology talent, and the convenience of international travel.

So yeah, it's more expensive to be in Miami but Omaha doesn't have anything like the topless beaches in South Beach & our upper management are a bunch of horny old men so you know, we kind of had to move to Miami. The closest thing we found was a former strip club on the outskirts of Council Bluffs.

Seriously, the HQ was already in Florida. It's interesting to know that they moved the HQ to Naples, FL in 2012 and got $400,000 incentives to stay there in 2016. They are now moving to Miami with $360,000 in incentives so far but are going to ask for more. The important thing for most of you is that the HQ will have around 100-200 employees, so it isn't a huge number. It appears that they floated a move to Omaha to squeeze the incentives out of Miami. Never serious about the move.

Their arguments are as laughable as a restaurant chain moving to Denver from Omaha because of the labor pool. It's bs but they are going to move wherever they want for one reason. They can.

I thought their reasoning was sketchy, too--and while they're publically-traded, they must be closely-held.

That's the limit of my concern about their reasoning, when you keep this in the context of Sarpy waiving a lot of their tax base (and areable land) for a host of server farms which will generate less than 500 jobs once all is said and done.

Yeah, I agree- it’s pretty much the same BS used when Pepperjax decided to flee Omaha for “celestial” Denver, Colorado..

Whatever and good riddance...

I don’t think they moved anyone out of Omaha, did they? Just Naples?

I think it’s just solidifying the HQ move. I don’t think Omaha has experienced any major employee loss.. Someone correct me if I’m wrong...

Omaha has not been the HQ for ACI for years now, the previous CEO retired a year ago, he had moved the HQ from Omaha to Naples, now that he has retired, the new CEO is in Miami, which is why they are moving from Naples to Miami. The Naples HQ office was a satellite office at best, the Elkhorn office is still the largest location they have in the world by square footage and the most employee's in a single location. The HQ move was executive level moving only, never any of us workerbee's.
