Glad they're doing something with this property... Its been an eyesore for last year or so. Weeds 5' high, several downed trees in the recent storm.

Brad, your link goes to the UNMC saddle creek project, but regardless, glad to hear that this project is getting some activity again... I swear this is one of the crummiest maintained empty lots anywhere. 2-3 times this summer I reported them to the city for overgrowth of weeds.

This is up for city council approval tomorrow. I think it adds really good density to this area; 21 townhomes on 2 acres.

The lot was really overgrown with vegetation. Not particularly thrilled about the power substation so close by. Could turn some potential buyers away.

Ironically the wall of trees that existed shielded this property from having to view the power sub station. Apparently the developer hadn’t thought much about that.

Maybe they will plant some new trees. Or figure out some other buffer between the townhomes and the power station. Wouldn’t want to pay big money and have to look at that.

20 years later, they might be tall enough. Leaving the trees would have been free.

They were old silver maple trees. They would be gone in a few years anyway. This part of town is full of silver maples that are all near the end of their life. We live down the way and had 5 silver maples, and are down to 3. The house behind us had 4 and they have removed 2 of theirs.

Besides being old silver maples trees trees, they are junk trees. They are so messy. Start fresh and plant something better.

Silver maples are the worst tree ever created! Not only do they have the messy problem Brad mentioned, their shallow roots ruin your yard.

Back to the earlier discussion about the trees, there is still a line of trees along the back property line between this development and the sub station. Looks like they are on the sub station side of the property line.

That’s interesting that they changed to single family homes. This should be a nice improvement to what was previously there.
