Union Station businesses excited for NFL draft to make its Kansas City debut

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KSHB) — Over the next four weeks, Union Station will be undergoing changes in preparation for the upcoming NFL draft. Parking accommodations have been put in place and businesses located inside Union Station, like Parisi Coffee, are ready to be part of the excitement. "The NFL has come in here and has been very transparent with the vendors and their focus is to have the least amount of change to our business," Joe Paris with Parisi Coffee explained.

2023 NFL draft fantasy football winners and losers: Lamar Jackson's awesome offseason continues

2023 NFL Draft Round 1 Winners

Lamar Jackson- Not sure anyone had a better 24 hours than Lamar Jackson. The contract saga around the former MVP quarterback finally came to its natural, logical conclusion when he and the Ravens agreed to a deal similar to Jalen Hurts’ new contract, just with a touch more money. A long, drawn-out episode ended in the most predictable fashion.

Geno Smith also has to be feeling pretty good about his setup right now. He’s fresh off a Pro Bowl season, a life-changing contract extension in his 30s and, in a draft where some pegged the Seahawks as a potential quarterback destination, the Seahawks did the opposite of replacing Smith.

Bijan Robinson- One of the biggest misconceptions in fantasy football circles is that Arthur Smith is a bad offensive coach. All because people still have their feelings hurt about Kyle Pitts' disappointing 2022 season.

Quentin Johnston- There were rumors Johnston was going to slip out of the first round altogether. Not only did that not even come close to happening, but he also ended up in a good landing spot for long-term value. While a limited prospect, the routes where Johnston shined at TCU occur in the exact areas of the field Los Angeles needs to open up.

Jordan Addison-I love post-draft analysis of players way more than scouting them. When I think of Jordan Addison as a player, there are definitely holes I can pick in his game. However, when I’m applying him as the long-term running mate to Justin Jefferson in Minnesota, I suddenly don’t care about any of those concerns.

Looks like KC is doing fantastic with the draft. Good advertisement for the city with it being on 3 networks-ABC, ESPN and NFL.

Next year it's in Detroit. Detroit's mayor & other leaders were in KC & said it was good but they did say there some things they are going to do differently.

I'm not sure why this is something that fans feel the need to attend in-person.

Though, that could just be me grumbling because it was in KC this last weekend and so was I and the added people at everything was annoying. :)

I'm with you. I mean, I don't understand a lot about this.

Why is it called a draft? A draft is a terrible thing. These are terrible too, I guess. But it's kids getting millions of dollars to play games. So not really a fitting term, is it?

Also, what's the point? Why does anyone care who gets to go where for way too much money?

I would like to see them just hold this in Vegas every year. It's a big gamble anyway, and Las Vegas is the perfect place for this type of event.

I see why other NFL cities want it, but I tend to agree with just leaving it Vegas.
