Watching GameDay from Charlotte this morning. They are showing a lot of shots of downtown, where they are broadcasting from. Kind of blown away by the area. Looks awesome and you can see a lot of ongoing development with cranes in the area. Need to go check it out sometime.

They just said the area in downtown they are in is called Uptown Charlotte. Looks like a lot of vertical residential buildings. Really really impressive.

It's not shocking as Charlotte is growing just as fast as other southern cities. Charlotte is known as "Sprawl Capital", while there is good density going on in those two areas you mentioned, the majority of Charlotte is sprawl as other NC cities.
Too many interstate scars, a city area that is much larger than Mexico city. Too many "fires" to put out do to their sprawl, they have a long road to fix, especially from all the bills to be paid from all their sprawl, but at least they are taking steps.

Charlotte is one of the main banking centers in the country. Yes, they have an impressive skyline.
