New arena for OKC/Thunder

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/391 ... nder-arena

This will be in addition to their new (within a year or two) convention center.

Very smart move on their part. Taking no chances on that team. I've been to OKC Thunder game and their downtown is really jumping on those nights.

That’s… absolutely insane. Building that tall is so expensive that I can’t possibly think of a way it would be economically feasible to expect OKC to be able to sell $10 million apartments.

Talk about pecker of the plains. And I didn't type pecker.
That was the reference to the Nebraska capitol

Let’s not forget what built the state…oil. They could sell some but yes I wouldn’t think that many a building that tall would require. It looks the exact same as the Devon building x 2.

I am seeing the OKC arena (Soccer) making more rounds. Not sure how much is moving forward?

It looks like they are hoping to even get MLS. I sure wish we could get there first.

The soccer stadium is separate from the proposed NBA arena. While both have passed local votes, the soccer stadium was prior to Covid and now obviously the costs have gone up and they are trying to plug the gaps with TIF funding that has to be approved by the city. This would be located in lower bricktown, across the street from the proposed 134 story building and across the highway from the convention center.
