North Downtown Truck Route
Reviewing some recent MECA board minutes, one reoccurring report from Jay Noddle is progress on a truck route. MECA is watching it closely. Mr. Noddle even says there was some acquisitions by the City to make the truck route possible during one of the meetings. I think we have discussed this in part in other threads, but wanted to make a dedicated thread as this progresses. There is an item in the CIP for this project with a completion date of 2025. However, it's still in the design phase.

This was just brought up in regards to 13th St being one, too.ita wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2024 9:42 pm Reviewing some recent MECA board minutes, one reoccurring report from Jay Noddle is progress on a truck route. Re: North Downtown Truck Route
They should just route it up 75 (make into an actual Highway) to Storz Expy (make into an actual Highway) then up 16th or 9th. Build a bridge over the river and connect to 680.
This was one of the options, and I think the best. It keeps the same (already installed) road, and it goes through an industrial area, so as to NOT have to remove any housing (which should not happen).

I think that's the worst possible idea. 75 did enough damage the first time.mcarch wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2024 6:05 am They should just route it up 75 (make into an actual Highway) to Storz Expy (make into an actual Highway) then up 16th or 9th. Build a bridge over the river and connect to 680.

Something needs to be done. The number of semi's going fast on 30th street in Florence is scary.

Re: North Downtown Truck Route
The truck route is actually through Enterprise Park, per yesterday's city council meeting, the long vacant site just west of Carter Lake to 16th between Locust and Cornish. Based on that route and how it will connect with 11th, it looks like they are planning to use the extension of 10th to 11th through the place where the Big Boy is parked for CWS for the southern portion of the truck route, at least that's my guess. Trucks would then be able to avoid going through Millwork Commons from Cuming.
