MemberWorks receives new name: Vertrue
MemberWorks Inc., a marketing company founded in Omaha, is now Vertrue Inc., a new name intended to reflect its personality and the virtues of integrity, growth and value.
Vertrue, now based in Stamford, Conn., has about 1,400 employees, including about 250 at its call center and offices at 9500 West Dodge Road.
Gary Johnson, president and chief executive, said Wednesday that the company changed its name because it has evolved from a third-party marketer to a marketing solutions company, with more direct-to-consumer programs and a variety of marketing channels.
The company sells membership and loyalty programs on behalf of clients, offering discounts on products and services and other incentive transactions. Outbound telemarketing, a major operation, now accounts for less than 5 percent of revenue.
Vertrue's stock now is traded on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol VTRU.
