Metro Omaha 1 million or Nebraska 2 million -- which hits the landmark first?

So, Omaha's metro is roughly 60,000 people away from 1 million. The overall population of Nebraska is about 70,000 shy of 2 million. Which one hits the landmark first?

I think they both make the breakthrough in 2023.

Based on current projections-

The Omaha metro will probably hit the 1 million mark one year before the state hits 2 mil.. Think 2023; then 2024..or thereabouts...

Yep. It will come down to how many additional metro Omahans come from elsewhere in Nebraska. The Nebraska side of the metro could easily absorb another 30,000 residents from other parts of the state in route to gaining the 60,000 new residents needed to pass 1 million.

I think your prediction is probably right. 1 million metro residents by 2023, 2 million Nebraskans by 2024.

Omaha can get there through annexation so much of this is not "real" growth.
For the state it has to be real growth.

Anyone that Omaha annexes would already be in the metro count.

The unfair part is we get a chunk of Iowa, but their growth is basically flat last I saw so the NE side is the only real driver.
