David Brown said on Grow Omaha that the Chamber spoke with 40 business prospects to the Omaha area during Q4. Couple questions:
1. Anyone have any news about who any of those prospects could be?
2. What is the process to recruiting new business to come to a city? David touched on it briefly but was wondering if anyone had more details.

Re: Business Prospects
What is their definition of a prospect? Is a name on a list a prospect to them? Is a prospect someone that responded to a mailer or advertisement? Prospect is a loosely used word is sales. I am skeptical yes.Doctor Fate wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:17 am David Brown said on Grow Omaha that the Chamber spoke with 40 business prospects to the Omaha area during Q4. Couple questions:

Re: Business Prospects
He said they were companies that reached out to the Chamber and specified certain things they were looking for in a potential new office location and Omaha then responded with a list of locations that fit what they were searching for.GrandpaaSmucker wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:54 pmWhat is their definition of a prospect? Re: Business Prospects
Of course then we need to qualify their definition of a company. 40 good sized companies reached out to them in a 3 month periodDoctor Fate wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 8:07 pmHe said they were companies that reached out to the Chamber and specified certain things they were looking for in a potential new office location and Omaha then responded with a list of locations that fit what they were searching for.GrandpaaSmucker wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:54 pmWhat is their definition of a prospect? Re: Business Prospects
I just listened to this past week's show as well. I think for those 40 business prospects in Q4, they were actually visits to the Chamber's regional area to explore expanding or opening business here, visiting specific sites that prospects may be interested in. In addition to those prospects, the Chamber was able to land 10 projects, or companies they were working with to create jobs or invest. Total investment from these 10 projects totalled $170 million with over 800 jobs created, about 100 saved had businesses expanded elsewhere and over 700 new jobs. I assume due to confidentiality agreements, that prospects cannot be disclosed until a deal is finalized, but is there somewhere that they published these landed projects?Doctor Fate wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 8:07 pmHe said they were companies that reached out to the Chamber and specified certain things they were looking for in a potential new office location and Omaha then responded with a list of locations that fit what they were searching for.GrandpaaSmucker wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:54 pmWhat is their definition of a prospect? Re: Business Prospects
I think the key words are “expanding or opening”. Focus on expanding.
If Applebee’s comes to town looking for a new restaurant pad, they are a “prospect”. I admit I am simplifying but it is late.
