I don't think this has been posted yet

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Returns to Omaha
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. today announced its global powerhouse Sheraton Hotels will return to Omaha, Nebraska after nearly ten years with the upcoming opening of Sheraton Omaha Hotel in October. Owned by an investment fund managed by Latitude Management Real Estate Investors, Inc. (LMREI), the former Crowne Plaza will complete a $4 million renovation to all guest rooms and public areas prior to flying the Sheraton flag. The opening is part of Sheraton brand's strategic expansion plan that will add more than 60 new hotels and over 20,000 rooms to the Sheraton portfolio over the next two years.

Sheraton Omaha Hotel offers a convenient location near the Qwest Convention Center, the University of Nebraska Omaha campus, the shops at Village Pointe, Old Market, the Henry Doorly Zoo and a choice of golf courses. Just eight miles from the heart of downtown, the hotel offers easy access to many of Omaha's Fortune 500 and technology businesses including Mutual of Omaha, Berkshire Hathaway, Con Agra Foods and Yahoo.

That's what I thought but the article says at a bustling downtown - but then says 8 miles from downtown.

Yes, apparently this location is somehow magically conveniently located near everything the region has to offer.

I had never been to the hotel as a Crowne Plaza, is this a major renovation?

If you try to "View Rates" on their website it tells you no rooms are available and if you call their number there's an operator message that says, "Your call did not go through. Please try your call again."

"Distressed Sale". Ouch.

An Old Mill--or Regency--address doesn't have the cachet it once had.

The Full Service Marriott catty-corner on 680 is a servicable hotel and easier to get to; the Townplace across Dodge is newer and perfectly fine.

Wowzers.. The link states it closed 3/25 due to Covid..

More 2020 craziness..and Marriott needs to take the time to update their web site...

Maybe it can get converted to some sort of housing. The location is not the best for a hotel, it can be difficult to find for someone unfamiliar with Omaha. I Never really cared for the place always thought it looked plain. Worse thing about it is the 200 rooms we lose in the Omaha market as this was one of the larger hotels in West O.

Some of my relatives stayed there years ago for our wedding. It is a pretty nice hotel with a large pool area, but definitely dated.

Back to a hotel:
https://planning.cityofomaha.org/images ... ber/14.pdf
The applicant indicates that prior to COVID-19, the subject property had been operating as a full service Sheraton Hotel, with 188+/- guest rooms, and went up for sale due to the downturn in the hospitality market. The investment group (Omaha Investment Holdings LLC) saw the property’s
potential for an upscale senior living facility, with expanded amenities. The applicant previously submitted an application to have the property
rezoned from CC to R8, which was approved in June 2021 (Case #'s: C10-21-080 and C10-21-065). However, they have not yet moved forward
with any of the renovations needed for the senior living facility. The hospitality market is returning, and doing quite well in major cities,
such as Omaha. The investment group has decided to continue operating the property as a hotel, and considers that as the best use for their investment and the City of Omaha. Therefore, the applicant has submitted a request for a rezoning of the property from R8 to CC. There are no renovations planned at this time, other than maintenance items to re-open the hotel.
Large dumpster by the front door.

On a side note, couple Omaha Police cars there this afternoon.

I wonder if they've since lost their Sheraton license and will operate as something else.

If they are going to reopen, they need renovations to the rooms. Lobby, restaurant and bar areas are nice. Once you go down the halls to where the rooms are located, it's a step back into the 70's.

The location is not the best, hard to get to if your unfamiliar with Omaha. Except for the pool I was never impressed with the place. It will need a big makeover or become a budget hotel.

I worked in this general area. Between the Social Security Office and the Hotels, there are so many people around here that are unfamiliar with the area. Its amazing how hard it is for people to navigate around the spaghetti bowl road network in Old Mill. I'm actually surprised there are not more wrecks. Several times a day we see wrong way drivers, people stopping where there are no stop signs, and turning in the wrong spots.

On a side note, crime in this area is fairly bad too. OPD has been keeping a closer eye on it, but I'm surprised what happens in the middle of the day around here.
