Three developments with a total of more than 600 homes are being proposed for southern Bellevue.

If all are approved and proceed, homes will stretch as far south as Platteview Road on the west side of the Kennedy Freeway.

The area has been considered a hot spot for new development and one of the few places Bellevue can expand, said Chris Shewchuk, city planning director.

The largest proposed development, Hyda Hills, would cover about 156 acres of what is now farmland, with a pond, creek and wetlands at the southern end.

The development would extend from Pilgrims Landing, near 25th Street and Fairview Road, to Platteview Road.

At 25th Street and Schneekloth Road, Hyda Hills would touch the proposed Orchard Valley development, which would extend west with another 36 homes.

The third development, Williamsburg, already received preliminary approval to add about 140 homes near the Kennedy Freeway and Fairview Road.

Developer John Thompson hopes to add a neighborhood retail center at Fairview Road. The development will fill the land between Tregaron, one of Bellevue's nicer developments, and the Kennedy Freeway.

All three come before the Bellevue Planning Commission this week. Developers of Hyda Hills and Orchard Valley will ask for preliminary approval.

The City Council has given Williamsburg preliminary approval, but the developer has changed the access plan, so it requires another vote.
