Mike Christensen is feeling good about what he’s seeing.
What the City of Bellevue’s chief building inspector is seeing is 11 new housing subdivisions breaking ground in the Bellevue area at the same time. It’s the first time he’s seen such a rush of housing construction in his 21 years with the city.
“Having 11 brand new ones starting up at the same time is pretty exciting,” he said. “(Developers) feel that right now, at this particular time, Bellevue is the place to be.”
All told, from the Spring Ridge development near 25th Street and Childs Road in the north, to Hyda Hills 2 near 20th Street and Platteview Road in the south, builders have platted 1,317 lots, which are expected to add about 6,500 people to the Bellevue area’s population at full build-out.
The 11 new subdivisions under development are:
• Spring Ridge: 154 lots near 25th Street and Childs Road.
• Ashford Hollow North: 46 lots at 42nd Street and Highway 370.
• Liberty: 93 lots near 48th Street and Highway 370.
• Falcon Pointe: 227 lots at 48th Street and Capehart Road.
• Belle Lago: 81 lots at 48th Street and Capehart Road.
• Lions Gate: 212 lots near 48th Street and Sheridan Road.
• Cedar Grove Replat 1: 212 lots near 48th Street and Sheridan Road.
• Cedar Grove: 38 lots near 49th Street and Clearwater Drive.
• Fairview South: 49 lots near 25th Street and Fairview Road.
• Fairview South 2: 144 lots near 21st Street and Pilgrim Drive.
• Hyda Hills 2: 176 lots near 20th Street and Platteview Road.
Wow, good for Bellevue. I do not know much about the City, but it always seemed to be lagging behind Papillion and La Vista from a development standpoint.
That is awesome for Bellevue. We recently purchased a home in Hyda Hills (development originally started here 10-15 years ago and not until this year is it nearing full completion)
The article mentioned that all these developments will increase the area population by 6,500. However, I wonder if it will even show in the city's population counts. Most, or all of these, are subdivisions so until they are annexed by the city won't be included.
Obviously, with the recent news about the new sewer work south of the ridge in Sarpy county, these numbers can expect to continue to increase in the coming years. I think if all the Bellevue area was included in the city population, it would probably be somewhere near 75,000 right now.
