Not surprising. To the south on 90th there is Family Fare and Walmart Neighborhood Market, to the north, Aldi and Bakers. Tough neighborhood to compete in.

I live near 151st and Fort. I shop on the one on 90th a couple times a month. It always seems to be doing fine. I've never been in there and thought it was slow. I think the one on 13nd will do really really well.

90th and Maple never made the money that most of the other Fareways do. Consistently in the bottom 10%. I only know this as I used to sell to them and the store manager told me.

I'm so glad they are building a store on the NE corner of 132nd & Fort. They removed that house & barn there, and it was mysterious what was going to be built there for so long. I wonder when they are going to widen Fort.

I know this will sound judge mental, but I hope Fareway is a little nicer when they build it on the new location. When I went into the store on 90th and Fort everything seemed so disorganized. That was a couple of years ago and I’m sure things change. I am happy they are finally finding something to do with the former Klinker family farm since the barn is gone and its vacant land wonder if it will take up the whole bit of land?

Thank you for the info. I was wondering what happened to that store. I don't think much of faraway's thought process. By early closing the 90 store they lose those shoppers instead of hoping some will go out to 132 & Fort. If they think 90's competition is bad, wait till they figure out there is Hyvee at 108 & Fort, at 132 & Maple there is Walmart grocery, Bakers, & Target.

Any update on when this store is set to open? The last OWH article said spring 2020. Well, they haven't even started building yet so now I wonder if this year is even a possibility. We shopped at the 90th st location several times a month and miss it.

They started to do dirt work for the area that will have the Fareway in Gretna. I was in the one on Harrison on Friday and I asked the guy at the meat counter if he had any idea what the target date was for Greta and he said he didn't know yet but they typically open 6 -7 months after groundbreaking. Why do I post this here? Guess the point is if they were to get started now it would not be likely that it would open this year at all.

I'm still lost why they closed the 90th store and paid rent for a year. The sub-lease sign just came down in January.

Nothing against Fareway but there is a Baker's on Maple and a Hyvee north of Dodge. They are all within 5 minutes of each other. Competition and choice is great, but this isn't some underserved area by any stretch.

You do have those. I live west of here, between Fort and Ida. One thing location-wise is it's really the only game in town north of Maple, unless you go west and into Bennington.

Once this arrives, I am pretty much done buying meat at Baker's, HyVee or SuperTarget.

I agree with your sentiment here..

Yes there is competition fairly close by..but not within this corridor and Fareway is a bit of a different style of grocer than the big box places like HyVee or Baker’s..

Fareway should do very well at this location...

I don't live around there, but I am up in that direction enough to know its been a while. According to a historic map, it looks like around 2006.

But I agree, the stretch from 132nd to the creek has been over-due for forever. I'm guessing the rock kicking has something to do with how huge that hill is.

According to the CIP, the design is planned for 2022, but the construction is not fully funded. The budget on page 72 makes it look like 2025. However the TIP says 2023 is the target construction year.

They also said years ago that 168th from Q to Pacific would start around 2007, so we'll see what actually happens...

Went this afternoon; the parking lot was absolutely packed. But I was a bit disappointed, as it's one of the smallest stores I've seen. The meat department has Fareway's typical layout, but the produce section is tiny. I expected that they'd put a bakery in to supply their other three stores in town, but nope. The baked goods are being trucked up from Nebraska CIty.

I thought it looked small during construction. The old 90th location had a small produce area as well. No bakery will be a downside. Day old buns from another location isn't that appealing.

They have added more fixtures to the produce section from what they had last weekend. I know a large one at the very back was new this weekend vs last weekend.

I know several have been critical of this new store since it opened..I don’t share the sentiment..

I believe it’s a fine looking store- inside and out..which has amenities that will serve the area well for years to come...
