Some neighboring business owners are not happy about the city wanting to sell a public surface parking lot for a possible apartment building. They are concerned that people will be dissuaded from going to their businesses if the parking lot is taken away. I would think they would want an influx of people in the area who can just walk to their businesses, but people need to park as close to their destination as possible.

Nobody ever visits a vibrant area for its abundance of surface parking. I agree the business owners are overlooking the business that will come from people walking from these proposed apartments and other residential likely yet to be proposed.
Judging from the Streetview and aerial photos of the area, the parking survey referenced certainly does not seem to be off-base in finding a surplus of parking. If elderly customers are a concern I'm sure there's an opportunity to convince the city to put handicap spaces adjacent to certain businesses.

Urban waters' project in Papillion looks great. Would be a shame if this didn't go through.
